No Mercy, Just Mud and Blood
This is not a game for the faint of heart. It’s raw, unfair, and brutally honest—just like war itself.
Step forward, Commander, and see if you have what it takes to endure the Mud and Blood.

Mud and Blood was, for the most part, created in an unlikely place: an outpost somewhere between Kandahar and Panjway, Afghanistan. Initially developed as a flash game by urb in between missions on a beat-up laptop, it became a way to decompress from the chaos. Ironically, a game about brutal, unforgiving war was itself forged in the heart of a conflict. What began as a personal project has since evolved into a cult classic, beloved by a fiercely loyal community for over 16 years.
At its core, Mud and Blood embraces a unique philosophy: challenge, not comfort. The gameplay is punishingly difficult, but it respects your tactical sense and cognitive ability. It doesn’t drip-feed you success to keep you engaged. Every decision matters, every mistake is costly, and every victory is hard-earned. This is a game that trusts its players to make tough calls on the fly, think critically, and persevere through chaos and loss.
In Mud and Blood, war is not heroic. It’s messy, unpredictable, and brutal. Yet amidst the carnage, there’s a raw beauty in the stories that emerge—a narrative forged by the player, much like the Dwarf Fortress of combat. Your experience becomes your own war story: a tale of triumph against an unrelenting enemy and the quiet pride of knowing you gave it everything you had.
Crafted with love, a touch of PTSD, and a deep respect for its community, Mud and Blood is a humble tribute to those who dare to face the impossible.

classic
Classic game! Brings me back to the days of online flash games. This game will definitely frustrate you, but damn is it satisfying!
i enjoy the chaos, its works bothways
There is no better game at making you suffer from your own mistakes. It's hard, punishing, and full of adrenaline. Dev is the most present (on discord) i've ever seen and the game itself is extremely satisfying when you get the hang of it. Absolutely worth it.
Fire and movement, the game. Fire, movement and cover for the discerning crowd. About as hard as your British uncle that was in the Falklands and the Paras that flew off the handle once and got arrested for triple manslaughter. But it's a fun little game.
Played MB2 & Recon as a kid. When I heard about this it was an immediate buy. I'm glad this has the goofiness of the old games but the added grit is great. Voice lines are still great. It's a simple but still fun game. It gave me something decent to play on my low powered laptop when I was abroad. It can get somewhat "micro-managey" at times. The campaign is a cool concept, but I always liked the defensive nature of classic MB. I noticed many of the negative reviews are about "classic mode is bad because you just die to something stupid or overpowered." The game might be cartoony and silly at times but it does get one thing right. In war sometimes you do indeed just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die to something stupid and overpowered.
dope as game that WONT hold your hand
Fun little game, the community has a lot of heart too :)
great game. from the very first one that was a flash swf. to now. when i saw this game. i knew i had to get it. ive enjoyed this game more then i have enjoyed high end pc games. if only we could get the older versions of this game as well. as id like to have them and add them to my collection like warfare 1944 side note. some cheats for this game would be cool as heck. esp for some sandbox messing around.
