The PC version of Final Draft is possibly the most comprehensive bit of kit for embarking on this screenwriting malarky, but MovieWriterPro is worth having as a backup, or even as a cheaper alternative. Oddly enough, it loads up with a hideously written demo. The first thing to do is erase it, as it appears to be written by someone who has just emptied a tin of alphabetti spaghetti all over your monitor. But once you remove the graffiti, MovieWriterPro does have all the nice little features which are very helpful to those of us who are terrible at organising their work. Simple things such as character profiles, backgrounds, objectives etc. are all neatly catagorised so the author can drop in and out and tweak / save progress with relative ease. All the basics for screenplay writing are drawn from the rather simple, yet effective template. You can insert 'INT.', 'EXT', 'DAY', 'NIGHT', 'LOCATION' etc. into each portion of text with simple clicks of the mouse. Stuff like that might sound marginal, but it does help speed things up. You can use this software without the need for any extensive tutorial, so it's basically straightforward. I can't say I'd use only this to write a screnplay, as that would involve being stuck at the monitor too long, and that apllies to the desktop version of Final Draft too. I personally find using the iPad version of Final Draft the most practical, although it's features are limited. But I would recommend MovieWriterPro as a helpful assistant, as you can keep plenty of helpful information nicely and neatly filed, for any project.

Worked great until I realized I couldn't save... Emailed the developer and they said a fix would be out soon. This was 7 months ago.

I'm very much a beginner at writing scripts for films, but this is a very, very good thing to have. I bought it the other night, and have been working feverishly at the script I've been brainstorming for the last couple of years. The preset functions (auto-adding action/dialogue cues, etc) are a major time saver, and being able to see how it would look on a PDF before printing out helps to ensure the script has that professional touch. The price is what caught my eye, and the ease of use makes me very happy to check this program out. I don't know of what else is out there. I've seen some pretty expensive stuff, but this has exactly what I was looking for. I'd recommend this for anyone.

MovieWriterPro is a brilliant utility for any soon-to-be screen writer, if you are interested in script-writing then I highly recommend buying this software. The company is really helpful in terms of technical support, so that is one huge plus. An easy 10/10. Get this software, you will not regret it.

한글을 입력할 때 문제가 생긴다. 글자를 한자 한자 입력할 때 밀리는 것 뿐만아니라 문장마다 마지막 한 글자를 씹어먹는다. 그래서 문장의 끝부분을 항상 두번씩 써줘야 인식이 된다. 그러니까 이런식이다. 안녕하세요요? 제발발 이이 프로그램사지마세요요 몇 시간째 이 프로그램과 씨름하고 있는데 다른 프로그램에서 흔하게 찾을 수 있는 설정조차도 이 프로그램은 없는 듯하다. 세팅 항목에 가보면 언어선택과 스펠링 검사라는 선택항 밖에 없다. 한글로 입력하는데 스펠링 검사가 무슨 소용이랴 결과적으로 옵션에서 할 수 있는 선택은 언어선택 뿐이다 만약 당신이 외국어로 작성할 것이 아니라면 이 프로그램은 당연히 비추다 아니면면 이이 작성법에에 익숙해질질 자신이이 있다면면 문제가가 없겠지만만

I was going to give this a positive review as the software is mostly helpful in writing scripts. This however is not worth the price tag. Use google docs or any another free word processor. The fact there are only two options to choose in the settings dropdown should be a good indication. Any control of fonts and colors would be nice. The ability to even save to a specific location you would think would be standard since Win95. An export option that includes the headers in the script needs to be an option. Alas, it has none of these feature you would expect.

You can format a screenplay using Microsoft Word, or you can spend $200 for Final Draft, or if you don't like manually formating in a word processor and don't have $200 to buy industry standard software, MovieWriterPro is for you. Of course, this software is not a tutorial or a storyboard template, so don't expect hints and tips. Frankly, if you look for such things here it means you don't know what you're doing and would be better off buying a workshop to learn the basics of screen writing. This works. Period. It is worth the $30. I'm writing this review because I feel I owe The Writer Zone a recommendation for a fine product which I acquired on sale price.

As an aspiring screenwriter, I find this program sensational. It is now the only one I want to use. Other users have adressed faults with formatting, a lack of guide to how traditional scripting works, a need for more features, etc. The thing is though, if you know what it is you're doing, this programme no longer has those faults. All it takes is a quick search in google for "screenplay template" or "Format samples" or something along those lines. Once you have that information, this app is a dream. with inputs such as: Info, synopsis, characters, places, notes, statistics, and other elements, in addition to the script, keeping on track is very easy. There is also a shotcut key at the bottom of the window that makes everything very intuitive. I found myself more motivated in my writing whilst using this program purely due to ease of use, and lack of needing to self-format (format manually) You should account the negative reviews to a lack of interest/effort. Once you get going with this, you won't need, nor want for another scriptwriting program. It is more suited for screenplays, but also works well for stage plays.
