I started playing this game and instantly enjoyed it. Love the graphics and music. Its a really simple and easy game to relax with (only played for an hour and a half so might and probably will get more difficult. Probably gonna become one of my favourite city builders tho.
Easy to pick up and play. A comfy city builder with some unique features like interplanetary trading. Hoping for more content to be added along the way, as it is still early in development.
Having first played the demo, something I loved about this game (I love builders), was the direction/evolution strategy, and also (this will sound really shallow) the music is fantastic. Hence I then bought the game, and am just loving exploring with the sandbox right now.. ensuring I have enough resources to avoid the dreaded tunes that let you know when things aren't going so well!!
Nice and relaxing: there is no combat, no time limits. Things get done when you get around to it, so you're free to set your own agenda. It's engaging, tho not terribly complex - just complex enuf. I can definitely recommend this if you're looking for something less taxing than Factorio to play when you're tired.
this needs a lot more... mostly Quality of Life updates. possible cycle between town centers, move buildings, rotate camera to north etc - such things. better UI and possible raster would be nice to. everything is a mess.
I really enjoyed playing this! 😊 I’m a sucker for multi-planetary management games like Factorio or Dyson Sphere Program, and Moons of Ardan scratches that same itch with its own unique charm.
Pros: A lovely city-builder/logistics management. Lots of nice production chains and interweaving as you progress up the manufacturing chains. The pollution mechanic was something I hadn't seen in other citybuilders and was novel. On the fence: I really liked the music that is there, but needs more of it/variety. Cons: Power is a pain to manage. The good stockpile inside generators doesn't last long, so they go offline due to lack of deliveries reasonably easily, which then downs all the industries that depend on them. At the time of writing the review, it had fairly limited limited replayability. The development roadmap plans to add in procedurally generated solar systems, and this would go a long way to assuaging this concern.
Very fun! The demo gave a good taste of the gameplay and once I got to the end of that I had to get myself a copy of the full game. I look forward to seeing it polished up! It's just casual enough to not be stressful (Unlike games like Banished) and the mechanics can go deep enough to make it interesting to figure out and optimize (Unlike many modern city builders that some consider "landscape painters". 4X games are my favorite genre and it's cool to find a city builder that's got enough to it to keep me interested. It feels like a very complete game for "Alpha" still, but I can see why it's there because they are still adding some pretty critical game mechanics, and it seems occasionally the saves get broken after enough big changes. Still, like others said, it's got a great UI, and is impressively bug free... I mean, I've seen full release games that are way buggier than this! I only found one in my first 10 ish hours, and the devs had a patch to fix it within a day of me reporting it, and even sent me a fixed save file to be able to continue working on that run. Talk about awesome developers!
Moons of Ardan has quietly abducted a large chunk of my weekend, and I regret nothing. You’re in charge of a small civilisation of adorable Axonauts, spreading across multiple planets and moons, setting up production chains, research, and interplanetary logistics. No pressure, just casual galaxy management. The real joy comes from juggling planets that all need different resources, then calmly shipping things across space like a very relaxed cosmic supply manager. It scratches that “everything must connect” itch in the most satisfying way possible. It’s still in Early Access, but in my experience it’s been surprisingly stable and already feels like there’s plenty to get stuck into. If you enjoy space, city builders, and watching a tiny civilisation thrive without everything immediately exploding, this one is well worth boarding. Warning: you may look up and realise several hours have passed. Time behaves strangely in space.
