A flawed but still fun indie love letter to 1980s CRPG and roguelikes. The mechanics are confusing at first but once you get the hang of them everything is fluid and the combat is quite fun. The graphics are simple but have a good artistic direction to them although some areas, especially the dungeons, can get quite cluttered and confusing. The dungeons are also grindier than they need to be with most of the fun coming from the overworld exploration and boss fights. Keeping to the early-to mid 80s style the story and conversations are very basic but still add a little depth and motivation to the exploration. Probably the only thing I really didn't like was constantly having to manage hunger, madness, and an endless number of status effects. Because they all occur so frequently they end up being more annoying than challenging or interesting. Overall though I would still rate Moonring a solid B-tier indie effort and worth a look if you enjoyed the classic era Ultimas, Rogue, or Nethack. I would like to see the hunger and status effect systems redone though as they do end up being more on the side of annoying than challenging or interesting. Even so I would rate Moonring a solid B- and worth a look
An excellent puzzle RPG that will leave you wanting more :)

The trailer really doesn't do it justice. It's a very fun game that rewards exploration. Much of the story is uncovered through talking to NPCs and reading books. There are secrets all over the place. The graphics aren't my thing, but they also didn't keep me from enjoying the experience.
.
highly recommend, it takes an hour or two to get into it but then its super fun

Poorly thought out or explained mechanics. Can't reach enemies. Cowardice mechanic prevents me from leaving the map with the enemies on it.
Simply awesome!
