This game brings nothing new to the table and the pacing is bad. One of the most pointless games of this genre.
Fun little co-op vampire survivors game.
i completed the game and it was easy, but hitboxes and terrain collision aren't perfect (not a huge issue but it can still waste a lot of time), and unlocking achievements took too long toward the end. to get all of them we need countless runs hoping the rng lets us get the right combinations and amounts of upgrades and it can take hours past the point of the game itself not being interesting anymore as it relies on having progression and has no competitive/scoring features and the coop features are not valorized. the balancing is very bad with some weapons being strong while others are basically useless (mostly 2 of them, even at their max level when they're "evolved"), same thing with upgrades. it's still playable overall, they're mainly a "downgrade" in that by themselves they are too weak to clear a run, but the other, decent upgrades can make up for their weaknesses, altough there is hardly any synergy with them valve in their wisdom also doesn't let the game being counted as total games owned, and blocks the game from having its achievements and the game being completed as counting toward profile stats, despite it being a regular game, and that we paid money for it, which is unfair, intrusive and abusive. the developers are also scammers, they scammed people with a first game almost identical to this one that they did not finish after having been paid for it and released this one to get extra money easily without finishing the first job they were paid for hitboxes are trash. controls are trash. try to roll dodge, game pops up upgrade window at the same time and said window takes the roll input for itself to pick whatever upgrade was highlighted and the character does not dodge. the game has an awkward auto-aim on/off and neither seems to be fun or well integrated. weapons are lame and weak. upgrades are bland and rather weak. at first i thought the game could be interesting as it challenges the player right away when starting with the brief tutorial but it's not early runs are very slow and boring. and yet paradoxally they quickly evolve into constantly running away from the enemies that grow more and more stronger and numerous than the character. and everything pretty much blends together so it's hard to tell attacks from enemies, locating the character itself, even worse when attacks obfuscate the areas. just play "nomad survival" instead that in comparison is much better built, has consequential upgrades and builds variety and is easy to understand and follow even sped up and with thousands of attacks and enemies on screen every second. i think i'll keep testing this one (monsters 'til midnight) but the start and first few runs have been quite anticlimatic
It could use more content but it's a great game for quick plays on the go.
Vampire survivors but more forgiving so its easier a bit, the illustration hook me for this simple game, 16 minutes in i already loves the game, the game work smoothly no problem crystal clear at high-res, no problem with steam recording too
'Halloween Survivors'
Positives: Charming Art Style: Cute, Halloween-esque monster designs that are visually appealing. Pleasing Sound Design: The audio enhances the game's overall atmosphere. Potential for Growth: Shows promise as a standout game in the genre if future content updates materialise. Strong Foundation: The game has all the basic components you'd hope to find in a game in this genre. Negatives: Lack of Innovation: Heavily inspired by core 'survivors' games but doesn't add much new to the genre. Diminishing Challenge: Becomes less challenging for genre veterans after acquiring upgrades. Limited Long-Term Appeal: May not sustain the interest of experienced players without more depth and content. Conclusion: "Monsters 'til Midnight" is a delightful addition to the 'Survivors/Bullet-Heaven' genre, particularly for fans of Halloween-themed aesthetics and sound design. While it offers a pleasing start for newcomers, its lack of innovation and diminishing difficulty might not satisfy hardcore players. The potential in its local co-op mode and engaging art-style make this something I intend to bust out for family friendly Halloween parties.
This game is good and the pixel art graphics are so crisp and retro dreamer have done a good job with updates and made the game a bit easier, still i am bad at it. I recommend this game if you are into whole sort of Vampire Survivor itch.
Fun, very colorful, funny, and has a lot to do. Excellent title for under $2.
Starts out slow but once you get about a dozen key upgrades things get crazy.
