The worst VS clone so far. This genre has taken off after the success of VS and we've seen many clones and heavily inspired games release lately as a result. Monsterlands is the least creative and interesting of the bunch and it's not even close. The weapons, upgrades, and characters are all as generic and typical as you would expect from a cash grab. Look at VS clones like Nomad Survival to see what a VS inspired game can actually be like when the developer is genuinely interested in the genre rather than cashing in on the success of it.
One day there might be a reason to play this rather than VS or Nomad Survivors, but today ain't it. Boring art, repetitive music, and uninspired items make this feel like a lazy, slapdash effort.
Fun, addicting. Decent variety of upgrades and difficulty. Music is relaxing and I also find the sound effects to be satisfying. Great game overall to chill out with, 9.5/10 - definitely worth the price!
Great Game with cool optics. I love the sounds. Diverse Weapons, items and upgrades allow you to figure out and create powerful combinations - which I really like. Fun to play and very relaxing. Kinda addicting ngl.
Great game! It's so fun to play and the aesthetic is absolutely beautiful. Already hyped for new maps!!
Quite addictive. It is fun to play and personally I do like the pixeled theme in this game. Already waiting for new maps :)
Great game! Most people will compare it to VS, but I must say that this game looks cleaner, neater, and better optimized. That's always a plus (Godot vs. Electron, right?). As far as optimization goes, I have only reached level 48 so far (wave ~100?), but the game has been really smooth. Kudos to the developers, and please keep up the good work on that front. Also, it natively works like a charm on Linux-based systems with open-source drivers, which is a huge plus. Right now, I would rate it 9/10 because some new maps/map textures would improve variety, and more weapons would be nice. On any price reduction sales, this becomes 11/10, no matter the additional content. While I cannot really complain at this price point, I will share the most annoying things you might encounter: - WASD movement is okay, but an option to use arrows would be very much appreciated as an alternative method of moving around. [UPDATE: Wow, the dev fixed this already! Thank you!] - Movement speed. Hm, Boots of Swiftness are supposed to improve this, but it felt the same. Maybe up the scaling a bit? [UPDATE: I believe this is fixed, the feeling is a tad better, and that is all we need.] - Exaggerate a bit with the weapons, variety, etc. Please exaggerate since this game looks like the right shell to create 100 weapons with 100 different "peow peows." This will surely come through new maps/map skins. Perhaps even a "monster hunter" pack as a DLC someday, who knows?
Monsterlands is a roaring addictive time

This is a fun little title with a tight and concise gameplay loop that gives a "just ONE more run" mentality good roguelikes are known for.
My partner gifted me this gem, (amongst others), for a measly $0.49, and for a base price of only $1 you're getting a hefty amount of content. The pixel art is charming, though the visuals do end up looking quite bland. same can be said for the music choice, which for most "Survivor-likes", isn't the case. music is boring and flimsy and i ended up turning it off in favour of YouTube. I know that this is no fault of the developers. making good music and visuals isn't an easy or cheap task, and its not really the point of this game. The hit effects are satisfying, the EXP attraction is satisfying, the leveling feels balanced, and there are some fun builds to make here! A personal favourite of mine is using Zeus for the damage buff, and generating a "holy" build with the shooting stars and holy burst. All the characters feel useful in their own ways and it adds to a decent amount of replayability. I do wish however, that there was more to do here. Some new worlds to unlock, new bosses with more attacks than "move to player", more powerups and abilities would make this game far more engaging, but as it stands currently, its a neat little timewaster that kept me up stupidly late last night. The achievement list is fun and relatively easy, and the game is surprisingly pretty free of bugs. That's not to say there aren't any, but they do nothing to affect the gameplay experience too much. If you go to open a chest the SECOND it's hit the ground, it will stay closed which did lead to some confusion on the battleground. Secondly, the Heat Aura and Holy Burst visual effects will clip into the ground and can be sort of irritating. Like I said before however, these are extremely minor flaws in an otherwise charming and addictive game. The top review says the game is nothing special and not worth your time and while the first point is mostly true, that is absolutely no reason to shun the game and give it a negative review. It's a lot of fun and I'd love to see more updates! Very fun little, I really like the simplistic art style and the sounds. Worth the price for sure. Already excited for new content! 10/10
