A fun, simple match 3 puzzle game that doesn't require much strategic skill. However, I disagree with one reviewer's comments that it's just an "achievement grabber." Unlike some of those achievement grab games that quickly drop achievements for doing virtually nothing, #monstercakes is after all, a playable game that can be a fun way to kill time. Sometimes you just want to play something easy and relaxing between those longer action and/or adventure heavy games, or when you're not quite ready to play one of those 5-30 hour games in your game library. I often find myself just wanting to play one of those silly hidden object games, such as 100 hidden cats (or whatever), before taking on one of the more challenging games in my library, and this game fits that bill nicely.
Yes, the achievements are extremely easy to obtain. You get half of them by just starting the game (I got those just while browsing the game's menu which includes a rather large gallery of all the stickers available for the game), and the rest were obtained within a few minutes of playing the game. That said, even after I got all 116 achievements, I continued playing for another 30 minutes because I was having fun. I played just before going to bed for the evening, and noticed none of the trading cards had dropped yet, so I just left the game running and the next morning I had the 3 trading card drops. The game has a total of 5 trading cards, so for both achievement hunters and badge hunters (or people who just like to sell their trading cards), this game is a win-win. The game also drops stickers. I got either 2 or 3 stickers or emoticons (honestly, I don't know the difference, as I don't collect those), and I've heard that new stickers will drop like every 2 days or so, if you continue to open and play the game. There are a ton of stickers/emoticons for this game, some rather cute and interesting from what I viewed in their massive gallery, so #monstercakes might also be something for collectors of those items.
All in all, I think the .99 price for this game (or .49 on sale, which is what I paid) is well worth it. This might be one of those rare games that I'll play again even though I already got all of the achievements and trading cards, just to kill time and have a little simple, casual fun between grinders.
