Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Sep 13 → 1.5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
There is something so perfect and magical about this game. Slay the Spire gets a lot of credit, but I believe Monster Train's added placement/level mechanics adds so much to the genre.
Had a few drinks and didn't realise I was attacking my own characters. 10/10

Being a roguelite deckbuilder, it is very similar to Slay the Spire in gameplay. But unlike StS where several less than perfect choices can easily ruin your run, Monster Train focuses on forging yourself into an unstoppable powerhouse. The interesting concept of mixing two clans creates multitudes of unique synergies. Game-breaking combinations exist in droves and it is up to you to experiment and discover them. This game is not as tightly balanced than StS, with many runs highly dependent on luck. There is always randomness to games like this, but it sometimes feels nigh impossible to optimize your choices to find a way to win. Nonetheless, for a casual player like me, successfully amassing exodia in my deck and steamrolling all foes is still exhilarating as ever.
Clearly I am in the wrong given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but I don't understand what makes it so good. The builds are not terribly fun and driving synergy between the different clans/cards is not intuitive and boils into frustration given some ill-balanced mechanics and overwhelming bad implementation of RNG. Even for the $2.50 sales price, I feel like I overpaid and am just rewarded with frustration.
It's OK. Pretty braindead, to be honest. I mostly played it while I was too hungover to think. Music was fine, one or two songs were memorable, the rest are what is best described as "serviceable." I also thought the aesthetics of the game were really dumb, which didn't help my impression of it. The gameplay can give you this sense that you're doing something at first, but after a while you realize that your creatures and spells rarely synergize in any interesting way. Too much focus was put on the board, maybe. What's left is a game that feels half-deckbuilder, half-tower defense, and isn't very good at either. It's certainly an overrated game, and I'm not sure why. Whenever I see someone name drop it as "one of the greatest deckbuilders ever" it kind of makes me question the validity of everything they say after.
I could keep playing this for 50 more hours but I need to move on! Just a fantastic deckbuilder all-around. Every clan has a special mechanic and mixing and matching different clans kept me hooked. and the music is just excellent
