Its a fun and short metroidvania, it isn't a genre defying game. It is fun, short, memorable and cute. I was initially put off by the interesting boss design, however if you look past that you will have a good time. The controls are tight and responsive, the enemy positioning is not cruel in design. Its a polished fun well made game.
fun and cute
I was shocked at just how huge of an improvement Momodora 4 (this game) is from momodora 3, which I already enjoyed. I started off with hardmode so I can testify that it's very challenging on that gamemode at least, I had many deaths. This is an amazing metroidvania, there is a lot of things I like about it, its atmosphere and pixel art are absolutely perfect, those are definitely the 2 10/10 aspects of the game, you really get attached to Kaho over your playthrough just from how expressive her animations are alone even with the game being pretty short (took me about 9 hours to complete the first playthrough with 100% map revealed). The combat feels really good even if simple with the main way of spicing it up being active items, which aren't really your main artillery but more so limited supportive boosts, the melee attacks in particular have much weight to them with you being able to stagger both enemies and a lot of bosses which I like, the one complaint I have is that the dodge while feels good to use itself it cannot be used while you're in your attack animation, this makes using it reactively much much harder when you want to heavily lean into a melee playstyle, it's not necessarily a bad design choice, it forces much more careful play where you can't go all in carelessly comboing bosses or enemies which also encourages you to use your bow or items more, but I'd just prefer a more reactive dodge personally which would allow you to play more offensively. On the topic of items, while I feel like 3 active items is a pretty reasonable amount, having only 2 passive ones is WAY too restricting, especially with some being blatantly stronger than others and some being just quality of life, imagine if wayward compass in hollow knight took up half your charm notches, it's silly, it doesn't allow for much experimentation or variety at all, the best thing which could happen for this game is having the strongest passive items nerfed and have overall passive item slots increased from 2 to like 4 or 5. My favourite part of the game overall is probably how it surprised me with the way you get through small holes in the terrain, when I first saw them I thought the game would give you some lame crouch ability later purely to get through them, but the way they went about it basically simontanously gives you an amazing movement ability, an alternative combat option and a way to unlock new areas you couldn't have entered before all in one through this, I don't want to spoiler you because it was an amazing surprise but the way they went about it is perfect, I will remember this game for this
cat transformation
the most I think, such a great feature, the only thing I don't like is how using it takes up an active item slot, I would much rather prefer a dedicated keybind and make it become a permanent part of your kit. Exploration aspect is good and rewarding, though I am not a fan of instakill environmental hazards in games in general, this one included. The bosses are overall great and I love the fact that almost every single one has an actual useful item they give you for beating them hitless, super cool feature to reward the more dedicated players honestly. The music is good overall, some of my favorites from the OST are Subterranean Grave, Whiteleaf Memorial Park and Pardoner's Dance. The story is minimal, but it is still a pretty appealing one, I do enjoy whatever little bits of worldbuilding we get because as I mentioned the atmosphere is perfect and the world really is an extremely immersive one. I think I exhausted everything I'd like to say about this game, it's just great honestly, if anything the thing I'm most sad about is how short it is after all is said and done because I loved my time with it but I guess a short and sweet experience is better than one which overstays its welcome, the game is well worth its price for this level of quality. It's nice to see the growth the series went through to get to this point and I can't wait to play the 5th one soon :D
이 게임은 어려움으로 플레이 하시는 걸 추천 드립니다. 저만 힘들게 게임을 깰 순 없어요. 넉넉한 피통은 게이머를 졸리게 한다구요!!
6/10
yws its good but hard
It's an okay game tbh, it's got very pretty graphics and nice music It has a somewhat bland gameplay, but that isn't a huge complaint. After beating Elden Ring, it's nice to play something simpler in terms of mechanics I kinda wish there was less achievements, but that's just a personal preference. I don't really like challenges, and this game has 3 Beat the game without killing anyone Beat the game on hardest difficulty And beat the game without dying I have done 100% and have gotten the good ending. And I just feel like adding these kind of replay things, may kinda... Make it feel less unique as an experience. And gamefiy the narrative of it So this is where I will put the game down and hopefully never return to it again. And be happy with what I got Which was a lot. Because this game is really good for what it is. Sure, people would probably laugh at me for recommending it. But I like it much
This place was eerie and screams of death and suffering, and getting chased by enemies all round isn't my cup of tea. The queen should really put more funding into security smh... 10/10
I like the game a lot but there is a lot of unreactable moves to some of the boss fights and it's trial and error on hard mode. For example Derelict Frida has a charge up attack that looks like he's sucking something in and I just guessed he was trying to suck me up but no he shot out a gigantic lazer beam that instant kills you. It's a very cute game though. I'm not a fan of the " Ring of Candor " taking up inventory space either since it's a mild inconvenience although I do appreciate the item exists as a earnable. if I was the dev I'd let the ring of condor just be togglable without it taking up inventory
