About
Mini Reaper
You remember a game and a story about its development from your childhood. A classic 3D platformer that, due to strict deadlines, had to be released in an unfinished state. "Mini Reaper," a charming little spooky game about filling in for the Grim Reaper's work while he went on vacation. Shortly after its unfinished release in 1999, the company Polysoft went under and disbanded completely. You thought the game, played by few and remembered by even fewer, was completely lost media.
But then...
One day, when once again searching for any mention of the game online, you finally find something! An anonymous user named 'face' posted the game's files to a sketchy looking forum. Thankfully, you have good old PCZ64 to emulate the game with.
Note: The "game emulator," and retro game company aspects of Mini Reaper are purely fictional, and for aesthetic purposes only.

The game has potential as a 64-bit throwback, but I could not get past the fact that it kept freezing on me. Whenever I died, the game froze, and after a hard reboot of the game on Steam Deck I had to start all over again. When I went to change the brightness of the game, and attempted to reenter the game and resume gameplay, it froze on me. I do not even know if this game has multiple levels, I could not collect the 13 souls in the first level without a frozen screen. Oh well.
Really fun small game, all about memorizing this little big boo's haunt stage and trying to get the perfect run without getting got by the Slendys. You have to start from the beginning whenever you get got, but the game's small and tight enough that it doesn't feel bad, if you're lucky and good at being fast you can get a clear in only a matter of minutes. The movement is great, the charged long jump feels really good, I had a great time. My only complaint is that the jumpscare sound is too loud lol, but I'm an old man who's just annoyed by extreme volume variability. Great game!

I had a really fun time with this, the movement feels super fun (even if I didn't QUITE get the hang of the dives) and the visual style and music are both incredible. Super fun time that I'd recommend to any 3D-platformer fans that also like suspense!
solid 10/10 peak cinema! silly little clown being chased by an entity beyond human comprehension (love the twin peaks reference)
neat lil game
Mini Reaper is basically what if you put a more basic Mario from Super Mario 64 into Luigi's Mansion to play Slender, and it works! Even if it has some jank, the atmosphere is great and zipping around the mansion tensely running a route and rerouting on the fly when the Enemy shows up is a good time. +Fun aesthetic helps balance the tenseness of the gameplay, love being such a cute little guy in a cool mansion +Simple but quality atmosphere, especially once the Enemy is floating around to ratchet up the intensity +Shmoovement! ~Only one music track, so if it's not one you like or beating the game takes you a lot of tries it could potentially get old quickly ~Also only one layout to the mansion and Souls, meaning replay value is low but speedgame potential is high ~The Mansion is a basically perfect balance of the gameplay concerns, meaning it's really tight to navigate with a weird layout, so even with study you can never really fit it into your mind, which can either be really cool from adding an element of uncertainty to chases and rewarding to highly skilled movement or incredibly frustrating because of the same should you make a wrong turn -The Enemy has really wonky AI and tends to cheat a little by despawning and respawning nearer to you so you can't actually manage its position to your advantage, balanced out by how sometimes it'll just outright break during a chase and disappear upon hitting you instead of catching you
Excellent atmosphere, fun movement, solid tension in the gameplay loop. If i had anything negative to say, it's that things feel very slightly too random.
A fun short experience, worth the small price of admission for me, your mileage may vary.
A simple speedrunning platformer with the bonus of a spooky ghost keeping you on your toes. A bit hard to get the layout of the house in your brain, and the story is shallow, but the loadstate makes it easy to get right back into it! Now, we just need some speedruns of this game
I'm an N64 / PSX era fanatic. This game scratches that itch.
