This game has pretty limitless potential. It's an autobattler rougelike where you build a team comp, climb floors, evolve the monsters in your team while min/maxing the team composition perks. In the first few months, the devs (a 2 man team, one coder and one designer) were extremely active on their Discord and consistently pushed updates out to fix bugs and add features/UI QOL changes/etc etc. It was all extremely promising. Naturally I expected the rapidity of updates to slump as time went on and bug reports were less and less frequent. Some of the new ideas thrown on the discord were great but would have required sweeping changes to the code and were therefore not feasible. Last week, a community member on the Discord asked where the consistent updates went, and another member informed them that one of the devs was at the Google Singapore Web3 Gaming Week. I did extensive research on the people speaking at said conference and the level of monetization and anti-consumer ideology spouted made my skin crawl. I asked in the Discord if Web3 and blockchain would be integrated into future Faux Studios games, and the response I got was along the lines of; "we're going to separate the blockchain game and our regular games." Personally, I have strong moral qualms with greedily monetizing an art form for maximum corporate gains. Video games are extremely close to my heart and I will not stand idly by while the "dragon" of crypto burns my hold and slaughters my people! I wished Fauxteam well on their business endeavors, as integrating blockchain in my mind removes all artistry and devotes the product to making as much money as humanly possible, in the guise of "well this is *real* now, and *you* own it!!" **UPDATE NOV 20th 2023** I idly was looking on Twitter (X henceforth) and noticed Fauxteam has an account. the revelations there were sickening. On May 16th, @MichiByFaux account on X stated; "Just one thing that we saw some viewers were confused about - we released on Steam for non-crypto native users to play and try out the game. The web3 integrated version will be coming out on web! Stay tuned :)" at no point was it explicitly stated on the Discord (that i was a "volunteer community manager" of) that Michi was only a test for a blockchain game, and i had never followed them on X. i was under the impression it was just a small passion project, but no. they used our input, AND CHARGED PEOPLE $5 for the full game!! scumbaggery!

This game pulls you in by presenting itself as a free title but it is more so a free demo. you get to play the tutorial Level and Lvl 1, afterwards you have to actually buy the game to unlock the other levels. You can still get some enjoyment out of the "demo" though!
It's a cute and fun game with plenty of creative mechanics in it for a deckbuilder. The devs are actively working on it and improving it currently on a day-by-day pace, which is honestly incredible! If you are into the likes of Slay the Spire then this game might be worth checking out. It is simpler, but interesting in its own way.
Michi is an autobattler game that combines some of my favorite elements from other games like Slay the Spire, Super Auto Pets, and Teamfight Tactics. The game has a unique blend of strategy and luck that keeps each match feeling fresh and exciting. One thing I love about Michi is the relaxing music that plays throughout the game. It's a nice touch that helps me unwind while I'm making tough decisions during battles. Additionally, the cute art style is a welcome departure from the more serious or gritty aesthetic of other games in this genre. The gameplay is easy to pick up, but there's a lot of depth in the strategy and decision-making. Each round presents new challenges and opportunities, and I love experimenting with different team compositions to see what works best. Overall, Michi is a fantastic autobattler that I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys this type of game. It's fun, engaging, and has a charm all its own. Give it a try!
A Decepticon's Perspective: Michi - An Unexpected Surprise
Introduction Oh, feeble humans and fellow Decepticons, gather 'round as I, Starscream, share my unexpected thoughts on Michi. This review shall be a testament to my unparalleled wisdom and insight, with a surprising touch of positivity. Brace yourselves for an unfiltered critique, as only I can deliver. Proceed at your own peril!

Gameplay: A Surprisingly Engaging Dance of Cards and Auto-Battles Prepare yourselves for the unexpected dance of strategy that is Michi's gameplay. Draft your Aibo deck, selecting from a diverse array of creatures with their distinct abilities and synergies. Engage in the auto-battles, where victory is achieved through the strategic placement of your team members. While it may not match the intensity of true Cybertronian combat, I must begrudgingly admit that the gameplay offers a level of engagement that may surprise some players. Rating: 7/10

Visuals: A Striving Sheen Visually, Michi strives to capture the adorable charm of Super Auto Pets . While it may not fully achieve the grandeur of our illustrious heritage, it manages to provide a superficial sheen that may appeal to some. The graphics, like a flickering hologram, possess a certain appeal that, while not exceptional, manages to create an acceptable visual experience. Rating: 6/10

Evolving Aibos and Artifacts: A Modest Attempt at Progression Michi's concept of evolving Aibos and collecting artifacts adds a layer of progression to the gameplay experience. By combining Aibos, you unlock their potential and witness their growth in power and complexity. While not revolutionary, this feature offers a sense of satisfaction as you witness your team's evolution. The artifacts discovered throughout the journey enhance your team's capabilities and provide valuable benefits in future battles. Rating: 7/10

Final Verdict: Starscream's Unexpected Judgment In the grand scheme of things, Michi manages to surprise with its engaging gameplay, striving visuals, and a narrative that possesses a certain charm. While it may not attain the greatness of true Cybertronian conquest, it presents a modestly enjoyable experience for those seeking a lighthearted adventure. I must begrudgingly commend the developers for their efforts in creating a free game that offers moments of entertainment. Let it be known that this review, unexpected as it may be, reveals a level of appreciation for Michi's surprising qualities. While it falls short of greatness, it manages to provide a satisfactory experience to those willing to venture into its world. Proceed with caution, humans and Decepticons alike, and embrace the unexpected in this tenuous endeavor. Overall Rating: 7/10

Note: Despite my initial skepticism, I shall acknowledge the developers for their choice to include me as a beta tester. Their willingness to listen to player feedback and strive for improvement deserves a modicum of recognition. As Michi is a free game, I appreciate their efforts to offer an enjoyable experience without monetary constraints. May they learn from their endeavors and continue to surprise in the future.
The game (demo) seemed interesting, so I purchased the DLC (full game) as I figured even though the monetization strategy is misleading, its not a deal breaker. I played all the available levels as well as the challenge mode, and what I got for my money was a bug ridden slop of a game. A good number of the relic type things you get don't actually work, all of the units are incredibly basic and uninspired in their effects, the 'hatch' function is completely broken and doesn't do anything, store items frequently vanished with no explanation never to be seen again in any of my runs, and there were multiple crashes. In the current state of the game, the cost, though very very affordable, is not worth what you get, and you'd be better off buying another game. 2/10, buggy and uninspired, more like a tech school project than a fleshed out game.
Slay the Spire, Teamfight Tactics and Super Auto Pets are three of my favorite games and I was hoping this game would be a banger. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The game lacked clarity and there weren't many interesting decisions to be made. Seems like a WIP passion project.
Very fun idea of Super Auto Pets and the rogue like genre being mixed, cute art, lacks depth / artifacts / any facto that makes battles feel different from each other
