a fun short soulslike that i found through a reddit page with pc soulslikes on it. for a free game, this was actually pretty dang good, especially considering the circumstances it was made under! the bosses were fun, it was fun to run around and explore a little bit while also tackling some enemies. i like to always check out smaller devs and smaller games because it gives them a chance to increase their reputation and engage with the game, support and give feedback. i played another free souls game that was made by a student and it was called steamrush. it was also pretty good but the quality of this one was better and you got more out of this game as well. keep up the good work, this could turn into something awesome in the future!!!

手感比鹿飨之刃(Cervus Blade)差, 但相较之下剧情更直白易懂, 并且有可用Steam成就 Steam achievements available
I have a soft spot for soulslike student projects, and after reviewing Bloodspear and Cervus Blade, I thought it was time to give Metamorphos a try. Unfortunately, contrary to those two other games, Metamorphos is little more than a shallow demo, with no levelling, no interesting mechanics, and far too many bugs for me to recommend. It’s undeniably graphically impressive, with its sand swept locales and huge Arab-inspired temple that’s slowly being corrupted by an amethyst rot. Your unnamed protagonist has the usual light and heavy attack, but the traditional dodge mechanic has been replaced with a dash that can be used both for evading attacks and zipping across ledges. It’s fun when it works, although it’s a bit finicky at times, especially on some of the narrower platforms. Combat is serviceable, apart from the enemies that throw near unavoidable firebombs at you. These seem to set you alight with a single hit and deal massive amounts of burn damage that I couldn’t find a way to mitigate. Your bonfire equivalent here are oases that respawn enemies and refill your healing item. And … that’s just about it. There’s no levelling, no additional items, weapons, or armour. This means that not only is there no incentive to explore off the beaten path, but there’s no real reason to kill any of the enemies either, you can literally just make a beeline to the final boss and not arrive there any stronger or weaker than if you’d stopped to kill everything on the way. Speaking of the final boss, he’s a pretty cool-looking dude, but I was dismayed to find a game breaking bug where whenever he hit me, I’d be permanently stunned and could only watch on in agony as he reduced my paralysed avatar to dust. I attempted a few no-hit runs, then decided to quit out of the game and launch it again, only to find my path was now blocked by a host of massive tentacles. That pretty much sums up Metamorphos in a nutshell. An interesting atmosphere let down by shallow combat and game-breaking bugs. Of course, you don’t have to just take my word for it as like all the other student projects I’ve reviewed the game is free to download so you can try it out for yourself

The game looks great, but the movement, camera and controls doesnt feels good. I played it till first 3 enemies and had to turn in off. Music in the menu is fire, so I left it playing for a while and finished my project.
A cool little student project. 30 minute thingie, fun for that duration
Fun Speedrun
A nice half hour AA quality student game, i enjoyed it.
