Bought this in EA for 0.99, figured, the dollar is worth the roulette spin of it being decent. After all, there aren't too many 3D survivors, right? Anyway, tried it in EA and wasn't impressed. Finally saw the update to 1.0, and figured I'd give it a try - Terrible idea. I don't mean to insult the devs, I'm sure they worked hard to get the game to 1.0 release. But unfortunately, the game just isn't good. Skills: you just take them once and then they go on a MOBA style button press. Problem is, they don't show a cooldown, and several of them cause you to stop dead in your tracks or get stuck in an animation that will result in damage to you. Movement: Kindy janky and disorienting. Which is often the case in 3D survivors but somehow this is worse than most. Map Errors: In my first run on 1.0, even though map errors was a focus in the roadmap, I had a map error that dropped me into the ether. This is in addition to the fact that enemies in the distance will spawn at the same altitude as you, even if the map elevation is slanted - causing waves of enemies (and their subsequent drops) to spawn in the air. And there's no gravity apparenty, so they just stay floating too high. Other gameplay issues: besides the fact that skills are weird and there's no stat progression, the description text is also unclear (hard to tell if you're getting something on a cooldown, or a mouse click, or an autofire. Or is it just a one-time use attack? Basic mobs are hella easy to clear once you get used to the controls, then it becomes a slog of just waiting for 20:00 because you run out of skills pretty quickly, can't power them up, and can't increase your stats. Suddenly, at maybe 17:00, the difficulty spikes as spawn health increases and your damage has no way to keep up. That's when I had the map clipping error and waited out the final 3 minutes in space. Finally, I was transported to a boss with an absurdly high HP total, and my character for some reason switched from Arthur back to Merlin, so all my skills were different as well as the playstyle. Then, the island you're on while facing the boss is surrounded by lava and because of the fact you need to rotate the camera to keep your eyes on the giant fire tornado it launches at you, I got to the edge of the map and wasn't allowed to run back up to safety - just was stuck for a second until I stopped trying to escape and let myself slide into instant death. Summary: No matter how cheap this is, I can't recommend it to anyone. The gameplay is boring and lacks any variety, the skill usage and movement is janky and unclear, there are plenty of errors still, and if you do manage to fight through all the problems to get tot the boss, the entire fight seems designed to piss you off - not because it's a challenging yet rewarding battle as a survivor should have, but because the difficulty spikes way out of control and you have no way to counter with an increase in your own power. I'm not sure if other character choices will revert to Merlin or not, because I forgot to mention how broken the game's economy is. The ONLY THING to buy with metacurrency is characters, and they're a few thousand coins, and you might earn 4 or 500 in a full 20 minute run. If the game itself is trash, at least let me unlock stuff and keep it interesting that way. I regretted every minute I played this game, and I wanted to like it. Or at least I wanted to have hope that it might have potential, eventually. I was wrong. Don't waste your money. If it was any more than a dollar, I would work on getting the refund myself.
Not one to give bad reviews holy god... This game has a long way to go. There's no mouse speed option, so mouse moves very fast. Spells don't work. They also make your stay "stuck" in place when casting which makes no sense, also considering mobs are super fast. Right click doesn't seem to work either and left click decides to go fast or slow, depending on its mood. Can't recommend this as is.
just good ngl

game's not good. cover art likely to be Stolen fanart of the Merlin show as the artist has been gone from social media for several years.
This game is so bad, save your money....
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game as it is now. I love the Arthurian legend which is why I wanted to get it. The controls are often unresponsive, you have to stand still to cast spells which causes the enemies who move way too fast to catch you, and I fell through the map for about ten minutes. I know a lot of this can likely be fixed as development on the game continues. In its current state, I would not recommend it.
Game is fixed from my original review for the most part. After the Steam Deck update it feels a lot better. Was able to defeat the boss honestly I don't think it's a bad idea to revert the boss HP as it kind of felt too easy now. 7/10 https://youtu.be/OoC7QrzI9kY?si=KRIkyvIoWDa1Aor0
