Currently, players can explore the mitochondria, the endoplasmic reticulum and the chloroplast in the game. Inside the cell, there are 100+ different proteins and many other collectible items to be found. This should account for about 50% of the total content in the final release. More areas will be released soon (or slowly) depending on the developers’ level of procrastination.

Cat in a Cell This early access experience blends open-world precision platforming with a dash of hidden object finding mechanics. The core idea—playing as a nanoscopic cat exploring the cellular machinery of an algal cell—is genuinely intriguing and visually stunning. The colorful aesthetic and feline movement hooked me enough to back it from day one after playing the demo many moons ago. However, it needs more polish (which is fine because the game is self-labeled as 'early access'. There's almost no context for what you're supposed to do or how you find yourself in this predicament (a few sentences would suffice!). Large white arrows give basic direction (helpful in the beginning but less so as you progress), yet broader goals and progression remain unclear. The biggest issue right now is the complete lack of a settings/options menu—no graphics, audio, control, or accessibility tweaks. In-game cutscenes are easily missed if you stray from the path or fail a jump, and even when seen, they don't clarify much. Despite my (constructive) criticisms, the game has a winning combination of cat platforming, cellular biology, and vibrant aesthetic with real promise. It just needs better guidance, clearer storytelling/narrative context, and basic QoL features so players can enjoy the fun instead of fighting the systems. Still having a great time despite the game being a bit rough edges!
Well, you can praise the design and scientific accuracy of this simulation, but really, it’s just “Prince of Persia” set in the land of life’s macromolecules. OK, there are no traps, no spikes, no enemies… just a cat jumping from molecule to molecule. Ah, crap! I’ve tried jumping across this gap ten times now, and every time I fall all the way “down” into the mitochondrion, forcing me to reload and start the same route over again. This is completely ridiculous—I’m done. On top of that, the sappy piano music in the background gets on my nerves after just two minutes. Bottom line: molecules are fun, but a cat jumping around inside a cell, it's lame! Slapping a platformer concept onto an “edutainment” project, it's lame!
