The Volume 2 of the Legacy Collection certainly has the better side of Battle Network. QOL wise, the collection is pretty much identical as the Vol 1 but with the Patch cards for BN 4,5 and 6 that were previously only available with e-reader. Here is my review for each game of the Vol 2 MMBN4: The weakest entry of the volume but is overall fun, that said, if you want to truly 100% the game you might need to replay it various times which is understandably a nightmare. 6/10 MMBN5: This is easily the most skill based game of the series, not only you need to operate MegaMan like a pro but also make a deck that work with the navis of your team, with that said once you get the hang of the liberators missions they can be quite fun. 8/10 MMBN6: The absolute peak of the Battle Network gameplay, you can use transfomations at will, operate different navis, and there's a great variety of programs and chips to try, totally recommended. 10/10 P.D: i recommend checking the mods of vol 2, since they can reduce the grinding without breaking the game and you can also play BN5 with the DS port soundtrack as well BN6 with Remixed songs.
the narrative quite hilarious when we've grown up, but anyway, it's our childhood <3
Still one of my favorite games of all time. And the legacy collection here not only makes them playable on PC without requiring emulation, but also adds in a bunch of the previously Japanese-only content, which also includes all of the eReader patch cards from way back then. I cannot recommend this game hard enough if you enjoy card games and real time combat with a side of puzzles. Very unique, and the first 'grid fighter' game to ever exist!
a fun series of games that i loved during childhood!
Yes you should get it very good mega man remastered battle network routine set lets gooo :)
they dont make them like they used to!
Was still going through each game thinking now this is one I didn't play before and then recognizing something that sparked memories of playing it before lol. BN4: They finally changed the art, and it's kinda terrible. It looks crisp in some ways but I feel overall loses a lot of charm and detail that the previous style had such as characters' faces. Characters were taller, and Megaman looks like a chibi now with so much body mass missing. A definite improvement is the new portraits in dialogue. ACDC has gotten some major construction work done, Dex's house is now behind Lan's, Yai's is so much bigger now you only see the fence and entrance, the Metro is now behind Mayl's house, and the park and Higsby's are now west of Lan's house, with the park losing the playground sets and the squirrel pond downsized. Somehow I remember experiencing this game even less than BN3 that I was almost sure I'd never seen it before. But little things clicked in memory on seeing them such as the Emotion UI, the giant speaker in ElecTown, and Searchman/SearchSoul Megaman really stuck out. The new net design is a bit too simplistic, but at least more compact than previous games. A definite improvement though are the homepages, every friend's HP in previous games were so massive you're guaranteed 3 encounters before you make it to the exit on the other side. Now they are like Squares from previous games, no random combat, and actually populated with visitors. The fast travel between HPs is a godsend. The most dialogue issues of all the games, sometimes even showing the wrong speaker. Constant alerts for mail you were already forced to read like in BN1. Weird design choices in the story. Inconsistencies such as Raoul becoming leader when already was, and Mr Match having FireMan again after going through Heatman and Flameman. And why do you have to play the game multiple times to experience all the content. Navicust was a downgrade. BN5: Repeat mail alerts again. Internet design is improved from BN4, kind of like how BN3's was but less blocky. Liberation missions give JRPGs vibes. Turns out I had played this one too, the drill and fishing sequence on Oran were like flashes of the past. Somehow Palpatine(Shademan) returned for the third time :U Weird plot devices like the final reveal being tied to grandpa after doing that in previous game, or that he hid a secret in a giant drill that was still there 2 generations later. BN6: New mugshot portraits. New city, new home. First UI redesign after 3 games. Megaman's combat sprite's first change since the start of the franchise for some reason. Very fancy new Jack in animation. New NPC models with none of the old ones from the first game, finally replaced the generic boy that looks like a frog. First out of the 6 games to have an in game map, unfortunately can only be seen from physical locations in the game like a map in an outlet mall. First game to have shadows, again weird change so late. Not a fan of new town and school. Miss the old gang and their adventures, Mick is a lil ♥♥♥♥♥, and you basically have no rapport with Tab, I don't think you even see a proper introduction with him. Cross system seems like an improvement over DoubleSoul system, but again another weird positive change that doesn't happen until the final game. Took the longest to finish because of how unenjoyable it mostly was. Overall not as enjoyable as 1-3. After that suspenseful and fulfilling ending of BN3, it just feels really derivative the way they kept going afterwards. Turns out your grandpa made yet another super secret project that wasn't destroyed that somehow threatens the entire world, and actually Wily survived again and WWW is back, etc. The over arching story seems best if it ended with BN3. As well as overall game design would've been best if they had something more like BN3 with the good pieces from BN4.
