Horse games are seriously an untapped market, especially when it comes to women who love them. And let’s be honest most of us have spent hours playing Red Dead Redemption 2 almost exclusively because of the horses! Is this the best game in the world? No. But is it fun? Absolutely. And does it have a lot of the things we’re looking for in a true horse ranching game? YES. Please have mercy on us horse girls and keep working on this game, because we are *absolutely* willing to spend the money. There is such a huge audience for a good horse game, and I really hope the developers realize just how much potential this has!
I've never written a review before, but I was baffled to see the singular not recommended review of this game and wanted to put my two cents in. This game was created by an indie developer and by no means a large game with big support. That being said, I think it was very well done. You can't expect everything to be perfect in this game, but they sure did a pretty good job. Brushing a horse is part of taking care of it, of course it contributes to the relationship you have with it. Everything in this game involving the horses is related to how you would care for a horse IRL. (In fact it's a lot more simplified) The tutorial tells you exactly what to do, and sure it wont guide you on how to move or demolish buildings, but if you just have a look at the tabs when you're choosing what to build, you'll find the move and remove options right there. Everything in this game that you need can be found so long as you just look. Are the animations a 10/10? No. In fact, I find that some of the horse hair animations are janky, and the head tweaks out a little whenever you turn while riding the horse, but it's not enough of a deal breaker to completely ruin your experience of the game. I do find it is also hard to keep track of customers since you just have a little customer counter on the lower right of your screen that is easy to forget about. I do like the graphics and SFX in the game, and the entire thing is generally enjoyable. So I do think that all the positive reviews were deserved and seeing that one negative review simply didn't sit right with me because it will mislead people to think that something that is very much doable in the game isn't there.
I will say this game has really good bones and I will continue to put time in, but there are some fundamental issues I really hope to see updated in future updates stopping me from recommending this game. I am addicted, but I do get frustrated when playing. I know this isn't a big studio, so I'm not expecting perfection :) Future updates we need: - A book to see what attributes we have unlocked for the horses - Lineage of the horses (I can't always remember which horses are parents of which) - Being able to sell things in my shop that my blacksmith makes without completely disabling them via the employee (being able to sell the excess) - Please let me know which stable is which without having to guess. I have OCD and need my horses of certain breeds to be stabled together, but I have to randomly place foals until they end up in the correct area - I don't want to make each horse sellable or non sellable, please make it to where there is a sellable horse area, or make the temp stable the sellable area - Don't let the stable hand use my special feeds on cows. It makes my heart hurt when I try to feed my horses their feed to find my cows eating a feed they don't need. - Allow me to have more freedom in telling my employees what to do, feed, or plant. Management for my employees is an absolute must. (This goes with the point above) - A little more handholding for certain things, like horse feeds, attributes, temp attributes (such as the Noble Feed attribute), and how certain things will flow throughout the game. - Let me select which seed goes in the crop, I don't want to plant all 300 beet seeds before I can plant any of my wheat seeds. Farmer employee comes in clutch for this. - Can I please make cheese too? I don't want to be blocked off from making beer and cheese because I have an employee. He gets really behind and I want to make some too. - A Discord or a website link to report bugs would be really nice. Doesn't need to be interactable, but I cannot find any way to let the dev(s) know what's up other than reviews. - Personal gripe: PLEASE change the sound when I'm making feed. It makes me gag. Again, I do love this game, and I can't wait to see more come from it, and I will happily change my review as updates come in <3 Thank you, dev(s) for the obvious love poured into the game.
I really like how much you've improved the game since the demo. The curry comb is no longer a broom! And you can’t ride small foals anymore, which is a good change. I’m really enjoying the game so far. I hope the devs keep adding more content!
To say this game is addicting is an understatement. I completely lost tract of time, and even when I need to force myself to get off, it's all I want to play! It is extremely fun, and the fact that there is so much to this game, it amazes me. When I first saw it, I thought it'd just be a janky game meant to waste maybe an hour or two, but that's not the case. Never would I have expected to enjoy it this much, which says a lot, considering most of my time spent in game was just cutting grass- Not that you have to do what I did and cut the grass in your entire plot on the first couple days, but again..it got addictive-
There aren't enough good horse games out there, especially not with such a great balance. Horses are the selling point, but then there's so much more to do! For horse lovers and simulator game lovers, this is perfect! It can only improve from here
This one is different from generic simulators, it has plenty of things to do, along with a very interesting hook. One point the devs could improve is the gameplay depth. Currently, it feels like the combination of mechanics could be developed further, but it’s a great concept.
1.0??? This is early access as all hell. lol Everything is so janky. Tutorial says what to press to do things, but not explain what they actually do. Brush the horse? ok. What if I don't? What happens? What are these levels? The game keeps going during the tutorial and people were leaving. I put a farm down, but it clipped into the earth and was half covered. How do I delete the farm or at the very least move it??? I accidentally put down a building and it became stuck there in a weird spot cause there's no way to move or delete buildings. Then the game ended up unlocking EVERYTHING all at once. So I was barely trying to figure out how to play much less what to do or where to put things and get the feel for the game. Trailer and reviews made the game look so freaking awesome, but I feel like I bought an entirely different game.
