About
MAWGATEMawgate is a short narrative-driven survival horror game set in the 19th century.
Maria Moore, a young woman deemed “hysterical” under mysterious circumstances, awakens inside Mawgate Asylum, alone, disoriented, and abandoned. Her husband, William, is nowhere to be found.
Something has gone terribly wrong.
The asylum is no longer a place of treatment, but of terror. Twisted creatures roam its halls, and whatever happened the night Maria was taken has turned Mawgate into a waking nightmare.
To survive, Maria must explore the labyrinthine institution, uncover its secrets, and find the enigmatic director, Dr. Hawley, before it’s too late.
Survive Mawgate AsylumA sprawling, interconnected facility filled with locked doors, hidden compartments, and cryptic puzzles. Every corner hides answers, and danger.
Solve environmental puzzles to progress
Manage scarce resources and stay alive
Fight or outmaneuver the horrors within
Uncover the truth behind Mawgate’s fall
Maria MooreBorn into poverty and thrust into aristocratic life through marriage, Maria never belonged in the world she was forced into. Independent, strong-willed, and unwilling to conform, she dreamt of freedom, travel, art, a life beyond expectation.
Those dreams died the night she was taken.
Now imprisoned within Mawgate Asylum, stripped of control and branded insane, Maria must rely on her resolve to survive. Claustrophobic, isolated, and hunted, she is determined to escape and uncover what became of her husband.

This game is soooo good!!! Amazing athmosphere, the graphics are incredible and it really nails the creepy asylum vibes to a T!!! The combat is fun and engaging and the resident evil like puzzles are very well done! It was really easy to immerse yourself in the enviorment and the almost mazelike layout. Just absolutely incredible in every sense of the word!! 10/10!!!
Very good
仿生化的小品游戏,质量不错的,但是主角小可爱死后仰卧起坐的bug确实难绷

it's atmospheric enough but if I can't dodge a boss's attacks, can barely damage them, and am not given the time or opportunity to heal then I'm not going to play. Atmospheric walk around horror doesn't generally do too well with any more than the barest touch of survival mechanics.
I never figured out how to kill the projectile enemy, shot it a bunch of times and died once then ran past them. The Doctor boss fight at the end was ruined by the Doctor getting stuck on everything and not really posing a threat. It wasn't explained from what I read but it seemed to me that the Doctor was a ghost because the light and bullets went through him. A cool idea to play on I thought of was the ghost of the Doctor was haunting the asylum after he was killed by a patient. The Doctors ghost drove William insane in a search for eternal life, with hopes that William would be able to achieve eternal life and possibly bring the Doctor back to life. The lack of explanation is good to let the mind wander to come up with an explanation, and the player experience leaves you wanting more.
I gave it a fair shot, but overall, it felt very boring and lacking depth. There are hints of a storyline, which is probably the strongest part of the game, but it’s not enough to carry the experience. The torch mechanic was a nice touch, but it feels underused—there was definitely potential to build more gameplay around it. The enemies? Just basic zombies. Not intimidating, not memorable, and honestly, they didn’t add much. For a survival puzzle-style game, it might’ve been better to focus more on atmosphere and puzzles rather than throwing in generic enemies. Speaking of puzzles—they were okay, but not nearly frequent or engaging enough. Most of the time felt like I was just wandering around trying to figure out where to go next instead of actually solving anything meaningful. This could’ve been way more interesting if every room or door had its own challenge to unlock and progress. Overall, it feels like a missed opportunity. There’s a foundation here, but it needs a lot more depth and creativity to stand out. Final rating: 2/10 If you enjoy slower, exploration-heavy games, you might still want to check it out—it's free after all. Check out my playthrough https://youtu.be/MLT2UPCP55I

Great hidden gem! Reminds me of Lamentum quite a bit. It's not the most polished (especially the controls), but it is very well made and does survival horror right.
Funny little video game with some elements of scariness. Can and must be played in one sitting, around one hour long, and perfect for playing in the morning. A very good-looking and well written experience, although I unfortunetly encountered some game breaking bugs. But since the game is so short it's still very playable and enjoyable. A lot of fun puzzles and riddles, with pretty intuitive mechanics. Shooting gameplay and exploration. Good job!
Game is good but the gun mechanics are awful and have left me unable to finish the game. You can aim at a target and shoot what would otherwise be a perfect shot (even at point blank range) and the bullets refuse to hit the target. It's not worth the frustration of trying over and over again when the game is the only real obstacle in the way of gameplay progression.
