Without this I would never graduate from college, the math in this game teached me everything <3
Kids
I feel the need to qualify this by saying I'm both too old and too good at math(and both by a lot) to be the target demographic, but a game that works simple mathematics into an RPG style battle system appealed to me so I gave it a shot. If you are young and/or need some practice, it's perfectly fine. Maps are simple so as long as you talk to everyone and check every door you can find everything. My only real complaint is that it only covers addition. I thought you were going to move on to subtraction at the end of the addition area since someone(or maybe a book in the library) mentions there being 3 other lands based on subtraction, multiplication, and division. But no, only addition. And I checked the publisher's page and they don't have further games, so it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Still, it's free, so c'est la vie.

Looking for a math RPG for your kids that only uses adding? Sure, Mathoria works, but... The game is actually less than a single hour long to play through. This game does NOT have anything other than adding so I wouldn't suggest this for any child seeking multiplication or dividing help, nor does this game even use subtraction. So for children older than 7 years, this game is nearly worthless. Also, Mathoria greatly depends on a child's ability to read as some aspects of this game are RPG elements like item fetching and there's far too much dialog for young children who aren't reading large words. My 11 year old daughter (below grade math skills) zipped through this with a roll of her eyes, my 9 year old son (above grade math skills) did the same with a bit less sass. My 6 year old son (at grade level for math and reading) skipped the dialog and the math was pretty challenging for him (double digit adding). My 5 year old son (above grade math and reading skills) just had a blast walking around but the math and reading were a bit much for him. I would suggest this game for 5-8 year olds who need a quick game to supplement their math skills.
Pros: 7-year-old enjoyed playing this game, and was able to play independently with occasional help. It is nice that the difficulty can be adjusted to possibly allow for it to be played again in the future. Suggestions: Would love to see the story continue (maybe the boat at the end could take the character to a new land of subtraction, and then continue with lands for multiplication and division. There is a book in the library at the start of the game that suggests such places exist.) From an educational perspective, I think it would be great if the difficulty level of the math questions increased in each new town. I think it worked well to increase the hit points, and I appreciated that an attempt was made to allow players to choose a more challenging math question by using "items" that inflict higher damage on the goons... unfortunately the highest damage we could inflict was only double what the simpler questions caused, so there wasn't enough motivation to choose the harder hitting questions. It made for a long boss fight at the end (I think the goon had 600 hit points to start)... selecting a superpower from the items menu took longer than simply answering the easy math questions. I think it would have worked better if the boss fight had more challenging questions by default, and then allowed the superpower items to be used to increase the damage (maybe to about 50 damage), but without further increasing the difficulty of the questions. I think that would give more motivation to take the time to navigate through the menus to actually use the items that had been collected throughout the game. Overall, a fun game for the right age demographic and it has a lot of potential.

Игра с бесконечными диалогами для узкого круга лиц, для фанатов.
great game to help with maths and reading too as text is simple enough for relatively early readers. both my 7 year old and my 5 year old love it although younger one needs a lot more help. Cute fantasy story that catches their interest, although still in Additio - haven't made it to Subtractio, Multiplicio or Divisio yet!
Good game for 6 year old kids to encourage them to learn some addings.
