Ask for painfully slow controls, incredibly non-intuitive gameplay, punishingly unfair singleplayer contents (4 enemies to fight) and extremely dated graphics and you have got yourself Master Pyrox Wizard Smackdown. Ever had a dream where your body dose not run as fast as you can actually run? It feels like you are trying move in a pool of mud. That is exactly how the control feels like in this game. It makes it worse that in order to attack enemies, you have to go around these fireballs, which can also kill you by the way, aim and strike it with your staff towards the target. It is incredibly non-intuitive. Nothing feels satisfying or rewarding even if you eventually hit someone as it feels mostly like luck. Enemies would most likely die due to randomly bouncing fireballs instead of ones from any direct strikes. The game also features a singleplayer-only content, where players fight a boss who can always dodge any direct fireballs coming at them. Most of them also possess tons of abilities that players never can have, including overpowered, passive abilities such as phasing through walls and boundaries. They are also immune to their own abilities most of the times, while the exact same abilities the players could choose to carry (one per game) can hurt the user. This could be a great guideline on how not to design gameplay. Having played a variety of countless party games, it is safe to say that this, without a doubt, is probably the worst casual PvP (party) game on Steam.
Before I played Master Pyrox Wizard Smackdown, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Master Pyrox Wizard Smackdown is a 3D rendered 2D top down arena brawler with a wizard theme and various game modes including a boss fight. It's slapped together badly with the lacklustre Godot engine/construction tools. Gameplay consists of multiplayer brawling around small arenas. There's also a custom level builder. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. Even worse, the game menus have no mouse support, it's as if the developers weren't sure what platform they were designing the game for. It certainly doesn't feel like a proper PC game, and that's a problem. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the Godot game engine/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset sometimes used by amateur developers as it's free (so they don't have to pay for GameMaker Studio) and doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities (it's arguably worse than GameMaker Studio). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. Master Pyrox Wizard Smackdown is over optimistically priced at $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. Master Pyrox Wizard Smackdown didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievments, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is "Double Kill", for killing two enemies with a single shot, but only around 20 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game, less than half the players. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. Or maybe there's just not enough players at any time for one player to kill two others... which really amounts to the same problem, doesn't it?
PUBLICADA: 9 DE JUNHO DE 2018 If you like games similar to Wand Wars, you'll like this one. Game is pretty straightforward, the trailer shows you everything there is to see. Haven't tried the multiplayer, so I don't know if there is a playerbase or not, but single player is proving adequate, with a variety of game types. You can even pit the AI against itself and just watch them have at it, and the ability to name your opponents is a nice touch; I would however like to see more customization options and colors, as there aren't a lot of wizard types to choose from. And of course, there is a level editor if you want to make your own maps, which is pretty cool. The only complaint I have is that it is easy to forget that the portal effect while a fireball is being summoned can kill you; I think it would be better if this were not the case. Other than that they did a great job, and I got exactly what I expected!
amazing game. So many unique and challenging bosses
