This is an awesome little gem, quite good for the price. Unfortunately, the demo was bugged at 50% through the first campaign, not willing to test if that is fixed or not. The game can also be a bit on the difficult side, but it has a comprehensive hint system to get you going. The only thing it lacks is online multiplayer, which would make this game complete; hotseat multiplayer would be even better than that, but alas, I do not foresee this happening.... All in all, if you like turn based strategy games with mechs (and this game is VERY strategic), give this one a go! Highly recommended. (And by all means, vote for the online multiplayer aspect, so that hopefully it gets implemented sooner rather than later!)
"Master of Puppets" is a console ported hybrid card battler and turn based tactical strategy. Control some generic robots on a hex map, dropping cards to summon artillery and helper robots and things. Don't let your core unit die, exploit the map, and kill the enemy robots. While this is no X-Com, Battletech or Heroes of Might & Magic, there's enough depth here that it would have failed as a console game (too complex for the console kiddies), so I guess some elements of this get a pass. It is somewhat obtuse however and the tutorial is very poor. Likewise the game is very unpolished, I was surprised to see it's not in Early Access (that would be the ethical thing to do, but the developers here have an ethics problem which we'll get into). From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality, in some places they appear mismatched... Ultimately the quality of these assets, and thus the overall visual quality is lower than average, and low quality always makes for a less than optimal gaming experience. Remember, we're looking for the best of the best of 100,000+ games on Steam. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. "Master of Puppets" didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for winning a game, trivial to get, but less than 38 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. The poor quality of this game is also reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Warning: This game behaves as spyware and collects "telemetry" and personally identifying information. While there is an option to disable this, there's no guarantee that will work. Worse, the developers turned this on by default to try to spy on as many gamers as possible. That means by even just launching this game, the developers have collected data on you for sale to third parties and so on. The developers will make the unverifiable claim that this data isn't personally identifying, of course that's BS as they're collecting IPs and all kinds of other information about gamers, when combined with other profiling data this can 100% identify an individual. They say it's for "QA" purposes but there's no guarantee they're not profiling you or selling your data to third parties as they spy on you. Should you trust them? Of course not... if they had any concerns about user safety and privacy, they wouldn't have built spyware into their game and turned it on by default!. There's simply no reason to trust them and gamers should avoid this game because of this unacceptable privacy invasion. Think of this as someone coming into your home, installing a camera in your living room, and refusing to tell you who will be watching it, if they will record the footage and where they will post it. You have no control over your data once they take it from you. Do you trust them? So, with that in mind, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Master of Puppets" has the far too high price of around $8 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $8 asking price for this game could get you games like "This War of Mine", "Batman: Arkham Origins" or "Borderlands 2". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this, and they're not carrying spyware.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The first thing the developer wants everyone to know is that they are THE MAIN CHARACTER. You, as a gamer, don't matter. It's evident from their attitude that they never created this product with gamers in mind. When developers, especially failed ones who would never be able to get a professional job in the industry, put themselves before gamers, we end up with garbage products like this. That explains how this trash ended up on Steam, but it doesn't excuse it. The developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here. The developer seems eager to blame this review for his failure. This review simply reflects the failure of the game and supplies some reasons for it, and is reflective of the community response to this spyware riddled garbage. SteamDB does not lie: Peak player count was only 3, this is so bad it's a joke. Those are facts the developer chooses to attack me over instead of coping with the truth: He is a failure as a game developer, and his arrogance goes some way to explain why. The developer cannot understand that the poor quality of the game and his inability as a game developer is the cause of failure, and chooses to try to argue with basic common sense about pricing, poor graphics, and the choice to spy on gamers. It's appalling, arrogant and unacceptable, but now we understand why this game was so bad. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
Seemed like an interesting game. Definitely doesn't feel fully fleshed out. Several mechanics are very unclear, like when you can drop cards from your deck and when you can't. Basically 1 campaign, with some fun quest type stuff, but the majority of the game seems like random generated slog. But in all fairness, this game was relatively inexpensive $9 US.
This is like a coffee break tactical turnbased strategy game. Its not like X-com but its very good and very fun. Rating 9/10
I can suggest this game. It is really good especially from a indie developer. I would be really curoius what was the most interesting and the hardest part of the development, and what was the motivation for the developer. I mean most of the game developers are developing their dream games what they really liked to play in the past. :) So if aybody know the answers for this questions or the developer would maka a devlog to answer this questions Im really to open for it. :)
