About
A tribute to a friend who passed away
In this touching pixel art adventure, help Lemon, a young polyglot, save the world's languages from a memory-devouring plague. The game is inspired by the life of André Lima — "Lemon" — an adventurous polyglot whose love for languages and cultures knew no bounds. His dream of living in Iceland to learn Icelandic was cut short after a car accident. This is a tribute to André's life, and an invitation for you to reflect on your own destiny.
The Power of Words
Words have power in the Bashir Islands. During your journey, you'll learn words from over ten languages that grant Lemon special powers.
Ratljóst — "enough light to illuminate the path" in Icelandic — dispels the darkness ravaging the world.
Gambiarra — "an improvised solution" in Brazilian Portuguese — allows you to creatively combine items to solve unique puzzles.
Each word carries cultural authenticity. Each word is a tool.
Simple and Intuitive Mechanics
With accessible interface and cozy gameplay, reminiscent of classic handheld adventures, you will:
End the darkness tormenting the world
Solve ingenious puzzles
Collect hundreds of humanity's relics
Explore every corner of the beautiful Bashir Islands Embrace the spirit of resilience and curiosity. This adventure celebrates life, language, and friendship.
Collect relics of the world
The Bashires — island inhabitants and language creators — are personifications of real cultures from our world. By helping them, you form authentic connections and celebrate humanity's linguistic and cultural diversity. Find over 100 precious relics, forgotten by the darkness. Save them and watch your collection grow in the Bashir Library.
Challenge your destiny
But sometimes, destiny is a choice. While saving the Bashir Islands, you'll be confronted with decisions that echo far beyond the game. For the true adventure isn't just saving a world — it's understanding your own.
What is your dream? How far are you willing to go to achieve it? And what is the price of simply living?
Master Lemon transcends entertainment. It's a mirror to your own journey.

This is a true hidden gem of a game, with a unique and touching story, that is also anchored to reality in a way that moves you emotionally and inspires you to think about several philosophical topics: Finding your true purpose and potential, the importance and appreciation of language, and the ephemeral nature of our existence. Such topics can be heavy, but Master Lemon addresses them in a beautiful way, that has made me think back at it again and again. The story follows Lemon, a polyglot whose dream is to travel to Iceland, on his journey through various dreamlike liminal landscapes, where you explore vast cultures and languages. The world you explore in this game is riddled with references to characters and myths from all over the world in a way that educates, shows appreciation for diversity, and humour in cultural quirks. The art is simply amazing, and consistent in its design, where for example you can always find small letters and symbols from different written languages hidden in the world around you. The music is also great, and has been living rent free in my mind for a week now. Master Lemon was chosen as the secret game for the Speedcraft 2026 event on Twitch, where a game with no prior speedrunning history was put to the test, and participants had only one week to do so. We started with a normal playthrough of the game, and were taken aback by how powerful the story was. It is not a typical speedrunning game, but a bit to our surprise, it turned out to be really fun to play in this way as well, and the community has continued evolving strategies, skips and glitches also after the event. The game dev - Julio - also joined in on the event, and was really positive to the whole thing, and our interactions with him were truly wholesome and nice (and he even submitted his own speedrun of the game).
No Responsibility Review,

I have no words for how beautiful this game was. The story was moving, inspiring, touching and unique. It was so original and an absolute delight to experience. I have cried, I have laughed & I have reflected on my own experiences. I wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who wants to get immersed in an emotional journey. It has left me feeling hopeful, nostalgic and conscious of the so little time we have experiencing life itself. How much even the most mundain stories can have deep impact. How only one person can make the biggest difference. ♡
A beautiful gem of a game. You can feel the love that suffuses the story as the writer builds a magical world to try to make sense of his friend's passing. Anyone who has experienced a loss can relate to the impulse to find meaning in pain. There is sheer joy here for all that makes life worth living - beauty, community, language, culture, knowledge, nature - as well as the poignant sorrow of knowing that it all has an inevitable end. Pros: wonderful storytelling and worldbuilding; lovely graphics and music; relaxing gameplay. YMMV: It is definitely more focused on narrative than mechanics, so some may find the latter too simple. There is a bit of railroading at times - for example, the game will clearly transmit when you need to use a given word in a given place, instead of letting you figure it out. There are no particularly challenging puzzles, and you don't have to remember or translate anything. I'd say it's a good choice for players who want to be led through an immersive experience. Cons: Aesthetics and affect are sometimes prioritized over pure accuracy in translations, but nothing so egregious that it marred my enjoyment of the game. One warning for Mac users: I first tried to play this on Mac and encountered a major bug in the starting area which prevented any further progress, so if Mac is your only option, maybe hold off until that's fixed. It played smoothly on PC though.
Lindo demais!! Sério mesmo, uma baita homenagem! Cheia de carinho, cuidado e cultura. Apenas joguem. Rest in peace, Lemon!
