Our objective as designers was to build a system that rewards intelligent strategy & and clever tactics, not good luck. There are game modes for the casual, the competitive, and the solo enthusiast, all of which benefit from being incredibly well-balanced.
The Power and Mana Cost of every single card and ability in Manacaster is carefully calibrated according to a strict mathematical algorithm, leading to intense battles that keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you demanding a rematch.

This balance system is what allows us to add new cards without making up new rules or risking power-creep. Significant buffs and nerfs are applied to the underlying abilities that make up cards, not the cards themselves. This means no more "my favorite card got banned".

Manacaster turns the one-of-a-card restriction into a mechanic that encourages diversity in deckbuilding. Since each deck in Manacaster contains 50 unique cards, no duplicates, players are encouraged to "dig deep" when looking for "that perfect 50th card".
With 800 cards available to deck builders, finding the right tool for the job is only a few filters away.
If you don't want to browse through all the cards, try Draft Mode where you'll compete against our AI as you see 14 bundles of 9 cards and pick from them to build your decks.

You can also just pick a pre-made deck to play; they're designed to teach you how to play the game and they use powerful cards. No watered-down preconstructed decks. Good, tight strategies that demonstrate actual synergy!

The Depth is in the Details
The rules and keywords in Manacaster are as simple as possible, but don't mistake simple for shallow. Once you start chaining together keywords like Rally, Focus, Twinstrike and Heavy, you'll realize that this game is anything but simple, and soon enough you'll be opening up the deck builder to try constructing your own.

To ensure player skill is always rewarded more than luck, we've made some changes to the typical card-battle rulesets. Every rule exists to minimize ( but not eliminate! ) randomness in situations where it's just more fun to give the players choice and agency!
As you see below, life points are spent ( and gained ) like a resource. Paying life helps unlock special abilities and can reduce the mana cost of Action cards.
Risk...reward...

Standalone Mana Deck
Players get to pick their mana card each turn. Single-color mana cards can be used right away. Dual-color mana enter tapped unless you pay 1 life. Triple-color mana enter tapped unless you pay 2 life. Build your mana deck before the game and enjoy deploying your Units and Actions on-curve.

You are given 14 cards from your 50-card deck from which you must compose your opening hand of 7 cards, but here's the neat part; you don't have to keep any of them, and you can cheat by keeping 8! No more mulligan'ing to oblivion. You'll always start with at least 7 cards in hand, every game, no matter what.
Manacaster has a variety of game modes that allow players to enjoy the game in whatever format they find most comfortable. Some players love the thrill of outplaying a live human opponent, while others prefer to enjoy solo campaign modes. Here are some of the modes you can play in Manacaster.
Select from one of six Elemental nodes to begin your path through the map. Your opponent will be drawn from a pool of decks of the node's Element. After defeating your first Elemental node, you can move on to the more difficult Hybrid nodes, which represent the fusion of two Elements.

The inner ring of Hybrid nodes are more difficult than the pure Elemental nodes, but for a real challenge ( and to unlock the best Equipment ), you need to attack the outer ring of Hybrid nodes, which are significantly harder than your first pure Elemental encounters.
The only way to unlock the first Hybrid Level 2 node is to clear its associated Level 1 node. Once you have defeated your first Hybrid Level 2 node, you can "backdoor" into other Hybrid 2 nodes, bypassing Level 1 nodes if you want that extra challenge.
If you don't want to jump into the city map right away, you can pick up a pre-made deck and practice against the AI. Once you're comfortable with the basics, you're free to build your own decks too.
Our AI is challenging but not unbeatable, and will give you a great understanding of how to play with, and against, various types of opponents.
From day one, Manacaster was intentionally designed and engineered to be easy for an AI to play. If you want the details on that, join our Discord and we'll be glad to tell you more.
There's a reason that world-champion caliber players call it "the most balanced card game they've ever played." Games are often decided by one life point, one mana, or one card. Yes, it is really that well-balanced. All tournament-legal cards are unlocked in PVP mode. No grinding just to play Arena; go battle on day one.
Prove you are superior. Prove you are better. Enter the Arena.
In most game modes, you can select the type of Deck Construction method you'd like to use for the challenge. Your opponent will be subject to the same rules, and the rewards of certain things ( like Elemental Nodes ) may change depending on which mode you select.
Constructed Mode: Select 50 Units and/or Actions, 13 Mana, and battle! The typical "build-then-battle" mode where each player brings the deck of their choice. Competitive players can test their skill in ranked ladder mode.
Draft Mode: Build your deck card-by-card while denying your opponent what they need to build theirs! A cleverly modified snake-draft pick sequence keeps tensions high, and you can "Burn" cards to spite your opponent and get a random reward. Supports ladder mode.
Manacaster might be your next favorite game, but you'll never know until you try it.
The free demo has no time limit nor usage limit, so you can play as much as you wish before buying. You can also apply to join the Closed Playtest, which is free as well, in exchange for feedback :)

As someone who loves and grew up playing card games (Star Wars CCG, Pokemon, MTG, Lord of the Rings TCG) and who still loves them, I'm always on the lookout for new card games. Manacaster is very much inspired by MTG, but adds its own clever twists that improve game play and deck design. Getting Mana Screwed is a thing of the past as Mana is its own side deck now that is drawn from every turn. Decks are comprised to units and action cards that all revolve around units, which means you won't run into an enemy control or mill deck that will beat you by basically not letting you play the game. All cards are available to you right at the start, and the kicker is only one copy of each card is allowed in your deck, which makes makes deck building strategies more varied and less likely to lead to one meta deck that destroys everything else. As of right now I've played against the AI in both single matches and draft modes, but there is an additional RPG mode that I'm anxious to try out. If you like card games and also want a new experience that improves (in my humble opinion) the tradition MTG formula, give Manacaster a try!
Started the game and all 900 cards are unlocked and ready to go in PvP and deckbuilding. No micro tx, no ads (lol), just pure video game. In 2025 that's something of a miracle.
Manacaster is so much fun!!! Between battling it out with the homies, or sharpening my deck with AI matches, i'm always happy to sit down and play some cards. The art is beautiful, the music is fun and the game mechanics really make for a fun experience. get yourself a copy, and try it out for yourself!!!! get a copy for a friend and learn together! become the best and dominate the decks!!!!
It all started while scrolling X (Twitter), and this really cool looking card deck came across my feed. This was a shiny physical deck with some really nice looking art. It turned out to be a game called Manacaster, and I immediately inquired on how to get myself a deck! Needless to say, I ended up playing a bit of the beta and trying to learn a card battler. These are not my forte, but I enjoyed my time learning the nuances of the game. Against AI I got pretty good, but still struggled against actual opponents. Fast forward to now, Early Access launch of the game. It's been a couple of months since I have spent time in the game, and I am blown away. The UI changes have all been for the better. Nice little sound effects added, some pretty neat graphics, and the art style I feel in love with on the face of the cards. However, the biggest thing for me? RPG MODE!!! What? Yes! As an RPG lover, this is something that is going to consume a great amount of my time! Winning a battle gives you an item to equip, for example, a necklace, or gloves, that you will find in you inventory tab. I'm overjoyed to see this implemented into the game, and can't wait to sink more time. Great work by the devs all around. If you like card battlers, definitely check this out. If you are new to card battlers like I am, definitely check this out. If you tinker with card battlers and tinker with RPGs, oh yeah, definitely check this out! I'm off to battle for more gear!
You call this a game...even for an early access game it looks like a pile of ♥♥♥♥. The UI hurts my eyes and the "music" hurts my ears. Texts are cropped at the bottom in the menu; cards have no border or any visual effects and look just like images rendered on top of the UI. I am sure the game-play would be fantastic but before all that it is 2025 and a game should not look like this.
Abandoned.
This game is amazing to me. I've only played a few matches, but I can see there are many innovative mechanics inherited from other card games. Every duel feels strategic and rewarding, and the balance between fun and fairness really stands out. I'm excited to see how the features grow in the full release.
