I got to watch a guy over the past two years with zero experience make this game completely solo. I had little faith when he first mentioned this ambition, but as time went on I began to see the potential in this game. Getting to witness firsthand the dedication behind the development I can say it was made with effort and loyal to it's roots. Now that it's finally out in EA (with more content to come) I can confirm it is actually fun and achieves exactly what it's trying to be, a boomer shooter.
If Cultic is the real Blood 2 then this is Blood 2.5. Good gameplay, cool and unique levels, and challenging but fair combat. A couple bugs, but that's to be expected. Cannot wait for Episode 2 and 3. Hopefully by next year!
I enjoyed it. Diverse guns, skill matters, and have to say I am a fan of the music.
Love the arcade games
From the few hours i've spent so far in the game it is clear that a lot of passion has gone into the making. The combat is satisfying, the music is perfect, the secrets are well spread out and varied, the references to other games (Half Life microwave being my favourite) just make you smile. The radios are a great touch i started listening to one and before i knew it i had sat through the entire broadcast because i was learning something new, and lets not forget about the addictive minigames and no i will not post my first level completion time because i couldn't get enough of Ball Dropper. Oh and being told by the protagonist 'Didn't you just save' after i got a little scummy with the quicksaves was hilarious. I could go on but i will just say that all these things just gel fantastically and the end result is a game that is true to its roots in every form with sprinkles on top and I am in awe of the fact it was all developed by just one person. Looking forward to further episodes and i will be replaying what ive done so far for missed secrets.
I havent had the time to fully play the EA release, however I've played the pre-release betas. Game is made by one dude who is an amazing artist and speedrunner. Retro FPS that is influenced by Blood, a Blood-like if you will, having you blast cultists through various environments like a rural farm, or an urban city block. The Shotgun and Ammo Can IED are absolute powerhouses that wont let you down. Arcade games are strangely addicting. As someone thats hard of hearing
Rivet gun go BRAAAAAAAAAAP
I wish there was subtitles. Molotovs and the subsequent fire effect on enemies, needs to be better conveyed to the player. Sometime enemies will just catch fire seconds after the molotov is thrown, and its difficult to tell if an enemy is "catching" fire until they suddenly are fully engulfed. Games still a blast and I cant wait to see what comes next.
so far i really enjoy playing the game. the game itself is challenging for me I'm really enjoying the game so far. It's challenging, but not to the point of being annoying. I've been following the project from the very beginning, and I think it's great how the levels have evolved in terms of detail and difficulty. :) I hope you enjoy the journey through the game just as much as I am right now. :D
This game is fantastic! Ive been following it for awhile now and it has met all my expectations. I look forward to watching this project grow!
A boomer shooter's boomer shooter. Decent music, crusty graphics, and tough but fair gameplay for the most part. Dev is pretty quick to fix bugs. I liked the radio shows and the arcade games, aside from the cannon game. Screw that game. A few ideas/suggestions: Better signposting- I got stuck in the big mansion level because I kept overlooking a tucked away room that had the key I needed in it. In the mall level, it's kind of hard to tell what areas opened up after using the keys. For example, the first key you use opens a window, but it's dang near hard to tell until you just happen to start throwing yourself at everything because it's been 10 minutes of running everywhere and backtracking. Weapons- The pistol is kind of OP. You can kill the standard melee and pistol enemies with two hits, and the thing is center accurate every time. There's a lot of enemies you can straight snipe with the pistol before they can ever see you. The SMGs work, but I don't really feel like there was ever a time where it didn't feel like it was my last choice weapon. It's not very powerful and it seems like it takes almost all of your bullets to kill one guy. I don't know if others are hidden behind secrets, but I only ran across one location to get new variants of your weapons, and you only get one. I could be wrong, but they also seem like a model/animation change rather than being an actual upgrade. Overall, good showing from a one man dev team on his first game.
