Magic: The Gathering Arena a childhood love of mine. I've spent hundreds of euros on cards and booster packs over the years. Yes, you can play Magic on Steam. And yes, it can be incredibly frustrating when your opponent is playing a deck or even just a color that you really don't enjoy facing. But honestly... isn't that exactly the same at your local game store? I think so. The game clearly brings out mixed emotions in people, judging by the reviews. But personally, I have to say: it's fantastic. It doesn't include every Magic card, some of my all-time favorites never made it into the game. It also doesn't have every format, like the popular four-player free-for-all (1v1v1v1) or Two-Headed Giant (2v2). And that's perfectly fine. After all, it gives you a reason to get together with your friends and play the tabletop version. So, here's my point: if you're looking for a great card game and you've never tried Magic before, give it a shot. It's absolutely worth it. And don't get discouraged if your opponents have stronger cards. After all... you'll have to build your collection too.
matchmaking and randomised elements are rigged, just play the tabletop version
5/10 do not recommend
Every game you play it seems like they hand pick your opponent and hand to counter what you are doing. It isn't organic matchmaking
This game should be A case study on how something can get f'd up as badly as humanly possible. Like seriously, Magic the gathering Arena might be the worst execution of a game ever. In my 30 some odd years of gaming and probably 500+ games played, I can't think of a worse example of how you just miss the dunk on something that could have been legendary if you just followed the directions on what people wanted. Why am I forced to play with Super hero cards? I dont want them! I hate super heros. Why am I not able to play with the cards I bought with real money? Asinine! I want to play with my custom deck, but they simply wont let me! I have to use pre rendered decks! Why?? Why am I spending money on something I cant use? IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE. The cards you can use are 3 years old at the oldest. I JUST DONT GET IT. This is a ♥♥♥♥ up of epic purportions
Great game, awful consumer practices. It's only free if you consider your time worthless.
very grindy , full of macro-transactions and if you play a mode that has reward , prepare to face the greasiest sweatlords with the most unfun decks taking as long as possible for their turns and interaction priority
It gives you both options: Not enough land or too much land! Feeling pretty spoiled by that. Do not worry about having an appropriate amount of land. The devs are looking into making sure that doesn't happen, anymore. Rest assured, by the end of 2026, MTG Arena will allow zero opening hands with needed lands. 60 lands in a 60 card deck? No problem! You simply will not receive an opening hand.
Worst way you could ever play magic. Complete pay to win and games are rigged
Probably one of the most infuriating experiences when playing Magic. Last few updates completely broke the shuffle and seems it has been rigged to draw as few lands as possible. 10 turns of no lands during MANY games should not be possible.
