The MOOD of the game: grab a couple liters of BEER, KICK BACK in your chair and beat the SH*T OUT of dinosaurs that stand in the way of building a base. I recommend playing heavily intoxicated.
Magic Rune is an absolute disaster of a game, a black hole of enjoyment in the gaming universe. From the moment you start, you're thrust into a world of frustration and disappointment. Let's talk about the graphics. They're reminiscent of something you'd find on a graphing calculator from the '90s. I've seen better pixel art on a calculator watch. The characters look like they were drawn by someone with their eyes closed and a shaky hand. And don't get me started on the environments – they're bland, repetitive, and about as visually stimulating as watching paint dry. Gameplay? Ha! More like game-flay! The controls are clunky and unresponsive, as if your character is wading through molasses. Combat is a mind-numbing button-mashing fest with no strategy or skill involved. The quests are nothing more than glorified fetch quests, sending you on mindless errands to collect arbitrary items for forgettable NPCs who couldn't muster an interesting line of dialogue if their lives depended on it. And the story? What story? Magic Rune's plot is thinner than a sheet of paper. It's a mishmash of tired fantasy tropes and clichés stitched together with all the finesse of a blindfolded toddler. You'll struggle to care about the fate of the world or any of its cardboard cutout characters. But wait, there's more! Let's talk about the bugs – oh, the bugs. Magic Rune is so riddled with glitches and technical issues that it feels like it's held together with duct tape and prayers. Expect frequent crashes, game-breaking bugs, and save file corruptions that'll make you want to tear your hair out in frustration. In conclusion, Magic Rune is an absolute travesty of a game. It's an insult to gamers everywhere and a stain on the proud legacy of the RPG genre. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this dumpster fire of a title. Your time and sanity are worth far more than whatever pittance they're charging for this abomination.
Warning: Asset Flip! "Magic Runes" is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers.
Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. In this case, the asset flipper took the FPS Microgame template and a bunch of stolen dinosaur assets (and some Suriyun assets for background objects/trees etc), but despite all this asset theft, came up with yet another pointless "kill all the enemies on the open map" FPS garbage asset flip the same quality as all his other garbage wave survival FPS asset flips. It has no value or merit as a real game. This is the standard MO for Lieb/Hardi/Daniel Li/Johan Games/Fadygames (watch how many fake Steam accounts this guy can make up to hide his identity and mislead gamers!)... make a minimum viable product, buy fake reviews, then bulk sell the game in mystery bundles through G2A and other even less reputable vendors. That's why Valve calls stuff like this a "fake game". This is basically an empty, barely functional prototype of a game... an asset flip made of a stolen game template and stolen low poly assets. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Magic Runes" has the preposterous price of $40 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. It's possible this price is either for the purpose of money laundering, or simply to prevent genuine reviews from reducing the fake "positive" review score from the fake reviews the developer paid for. Either way, this is unacceptable manipulation of the Steam store for profit. It's harmful to gamers and to genuine indie devs, because it gives indie devs a bad name.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
This game is absolute trash. Even on sale don't worth it
this game is absolute trash.
The game is incredibly hardcore, I almost gave up trying to complete the first task, but hitting the keyboard in despair, acquired magical abilities, which I hasten to share with you - by pressing "q" and "e" you can change the age of dinosaurs. The world of the game is incredibly beautiful, dinosaurs walking between birch trees instill a love of wildlife and brighten grind.
it isnt really a game, positive comments are fake and it cost 40$ ? what a joke. en fr : c'est meme pas vraiment un jeu, c'est éclaté et les commentaires positifs sont faux, il vaut pas 40€. mais en vrai il vaut meme pas 1€
The game features various power-ups, obstacles, and tricky puzzles that require strategic thinking and quick reflexes to solve. With engaging gameplay and vibrant graphics, Magic Runes offers a fun and addictive experience for players looking for a brain-teasing challenge.
