magic bubbles is based on the classic game color lines from 1992. you might know it under a different name and this has wizards, but it boils down to matching colored balls on a 9x9 grid, as long as they can reach each other (basically connected with a single line in the original) to form horizontal, vertical or diagonal structures of 5 or more. diagonal movement for a color becomes available after positioning 5 balls like that and there's a multicolor sphere acting as a joker. making matches also charges the bomb for that color. that's what the game calls them but they look like dynamite. very effective but also takes half your score and since the win condition is to charge all 7 of them, going boom is ill-advised. then again, if the board fills up with newly-appearing balls after every turn, it's game over. new spawn locations are shown, so you can plan ahead somewhat. clicking the dynamite icon reveals the numbers already done and the amount still needed. wish it was instant text or if clicking revealed it in full instead of closing it. endless/random score attack means about an hour of entertainment for me and a potentially endless amount for others, especially if they're into competing on online leaderboards. no idea how to access them though, your best score and global ranking is shown in the menu, that's all I could find, nothing outside the game either, where some games show leaderboard stats. there are 7 difficulties here, so there should be 7 boards. additional difficulties are unlocked one by one after winning on the current one (i.e. defeating the evil wizard) but I'm pretty sure only 2 actual game modes are available. bomb charge goals increase as you go higher but it's either the mechanics described above, or diagonals are unlocked from the start but they don't count for matches, instead any shape of 5 or more is allowed, not just a straight line. the second difficulty works like that, the first and third use standard rules and that's where I stopped. no time limit, yes undo, redo and automatic and manual mid-level saving, my dream scenario. or would be but there's no confirmation for loading and controls aren't rebindable. there's controller support, haven't tried it, the mouse works just fine (all you need is left click), as does the keyboard but wouldn't recommend it. playing a matching game with arrows, space/enter and tab is as bad as it sounds, regardless of reconfigurability. still, the more options the better. graphics are cartoony, kinda cute, good enough. clicking the wizards next to the board makes them jump around, little details like this are always appreciated, and thankfully animations are fast enough. that said, an instant/no animation setting wouldn't hurt. audio is really loud by default but again, not too bad. the music anyway, the boinging sound of a selected ball got annoying after exactly 2 seconds. there are separate if awkward volume settings on top of toggles (select, enter value, enter), plus some languages, windowed mode, resolutions and a toggle for cutscenes after a win leading to a new difficulty or a loss, resulting in your wizards getting eaten by wild animals. the whole thing is a bit amateurish and inconsistent visually, plus I couldn't take screenshots of the help section for some reason (a non-issue really), but it's an enjoyable interpretation of a classic.
Magic Bubbles is a modern twist to the classical lines game. It builds on the original by adding colorful graphics and animations, a soundtrack and multiple levels with increased difficulty. Moreover, it features a magic bubble that matches any color and moves diagonally. The game is also friendly to beginners, allowing players to undo and redo moves as well as save and restore games. All in all, if you're a fan of casual logic/puzzle games or liked the original, you will very much enjoy this one as well.
Es wäre ja ganz witzig.... wenn man mehr Möglichkeiten hätte die Bälle weg zubekommen.. das spiel ist irgendwie nur halb durchdacht auch kann man die Bälle nicht untereinander tauschen
