I don't really know why, but this was such a bad game in my opinion. Only good thing about it was the fact that it was done in under 4 hours with 100% achievements, which btw was extremely easy to get. There isn't anything really horrific about this game. Personally, I hated the graphics and found nothing cute about it, but that might just be me. The controls are a bit sluggish and odd, but I've tired worse. Somehow the movement seems off. At times its too fast and sometimes painfully slow, there is no balance at all. None of the mentioned things should make me dislike the game this much, but I really really don't like it. I think I was about 10-15 mins in when I started looking forward to the end. I played this over several times and had to force myself to finish it, I was simply that bored. I feel bad about leaving a negative review when I can't pinpoint the reasons better, but it might just be the overall feeling of the game. I bought this game at a really good discount, but honestly I still feel like I wasted both money and time here, sigh.
Fun fact: Bilbies are real and they look like trash bunnies. Macrotis: A Mother's Journey is a lovely puzzle-platformer with laid-back puzzles, colorful and pretty environments, immersive voice-acting, a great consistency in ludonarrative elements and a fun gameplay experience. The controls are pretty easy and tutorial is seamlessly embedded in the game. Great game for both fans and non-fans of this genre.
Final Verdict: Buy. A well-crafted puzzle platformer.
This is a puzzle platformer with challenging puzzles. A few of them had be stumped and thinking of ways to solve them. I actually had to look up one of the puzzles to solve it and then I felt very silly for not getting it. In case you're wondering, I'm not usually into puzzle platformers. However, I found this one refreshing. It introduced new elements as you progressed and didn't overstay its welcome. While some of the puzzles did require finesse & some precision, the platforming was usually generous and didn't require twitch reflexes. Most of the challenge was on the mental versus quick reflex side. I wouldn't say the game is innovative, but the levels are well-crafted. The only issue I noticed during gameplay was the music suddenly cutting out on some levels. The checkpoints were usually pretty generous although sometimes I had a puzzle solved but it took several attempts to get it executed correctly. The ending to the story was really good and made the journey worthwhile. I won't say more than that about the story. Whole thing took me about six plus hours. Rate 7/10.
This game is beautiful, has an incredible soundtrack to venture to and the story line is very touching. I'm a mother of a 2 year little girl and I know I'd do anything for her, so of course this game hit the feels.. I love the puzzles and it's also fun when you have friends watching and playing with you. It's a great story line but for sure has incredible details throughout the game. I'LL BE PLAYING THE GAME MORE!
The game is very nice with good puzzles. I wish it has more level environments, started with different ones stuck on one environment at the end which makes it lil boring. Over all good game for the price to work our minds.
Pure annoyance. Some of the worst puzzle design you'll find on the market. If you want to ruin a game, any game, simply add... Timers. Now if you are Proud Dinosaurs and really want to transmogrify your customers into ex-customers by making sure that not a drop of fun can be sucked out of your software: - force them to wait in the middle of rushes; - reduce maneuvers' time windows to their absolute minima; - restart the entire long stretches upon death; - or soft-lock the puzzles without killing them, until they accept that they must suicide. I've rated games 0/10 for their stupid timers alone. I suppose I need to rate Macrotis with a negative number, to be fair to them.
