If you like solo tile-matching games, this game is definitely for you. Egyptian theming for a Mahjong game might seem weird at first glance, but it works surprisingly well in context and isn't at all distracting.
Not as good as Shanghai, but pretty close. Lots of optional play after the quest.

En güzeli bu. Oyunu yapan adam bile bu kadar oynamamıştır.
bei dem damaligen verhältnissen ein echt gutes game gewesen, aber heute gibt es deutlich bessere mahjong games! würde es nicht weiter empfehlen
Better than playing on my phone with AD's.
Its Mahjong Solitaire with an Ancient Egyptian background. Not much else to it. The game has a fairly long adventure mode where you have to match a number of key-tiles to complete stages. You don't necessarily have to match all tiles to complete a stage, only the ones with keys on them. There are three difficulties that make the game more challenging by increasing the number of tiles that need to be matched. In adventure mode, each stage must be completed before a timer runs out or it will result in a loss of a life. Run out of lives and you have to start all over. There are also stand alone puzzles that can be completed casually without worry or for practice if you are new to Mahjong Solitaire. The game should run out of the box but it will only be playable in windowed mode due to the game's locked resolution. You'll get used to it.
It's LUXOR MAHJONG
Luxor Mahjong is a relaxed and content-rich take on mahjong solitaire that blends the familiar tile-matching formula with the distinctive Ancient Egyptian atmosphere of the Luxor franchise. Developed by MumboJumbo and published by Accelerate Games, the game shifts away from the fast-paced, action-oriented mechanics associated with other Luxor titles and instead embraces a slower, more contemplative style of play. From the moment you begin, it becomes clear that the experience is designed to be welcoming and low-pressure, offering a steady rhythm that encourages careful observation, planning, and patience rather than quick reflexes or time-based challenges. At its core, Luxor Mahjong remains faithful to the traditional rules of mahjong solitaire. Players remove pairs of matching tiles from layered arrangements, with the limitation that only free tiles—those not blocked on either side or from above—can be selected. This simple ruleset forms the foundation for a surprisingly deep and satisfying puzzle experience, especially as layouts become more complex. The game frames its progression through a light adventure structure, presenting your journey as a quest to recover lost treasures scattered across ancient lands. While the narrative is minimal and largely decorative, it provides a pleasant sense of direction and progression as you move from one puzzle to the next. One of the game’s strongest features is the sheer volume of content on offer. With hundreds of handcrafted layouts spread across multiple modes, Luxor Mahjong provides far more variety than its modest presentation might initially suggest. Adventure mode offers a guided path through increasingly intricate boards, gradually introducing more demanding configurations that test foresight and tile management. Single and Traditional modes, on the other hand, cater to players who prefer to jump straight into individual puzzles or enjoy the purest form of mahjong solitaire without narrative framing. This flexibility makes the game well suited to both short, casual sessions and longer stretches of focused play. The visual presentation reinforces the game’s calm and accessible tone. Tiles are clearly designed and easy to distinguish, reducing visual clutter and ensuring readability even during more complex layouts. Egyptian-inspired motifs, hieroglyphic symbols, and warm desert color palettes give the game a thematic identity without distracting from the puzzles themselves. Backgrounds are understated but atmospheric, evoking ancient temples and sunlit ruins in a way that complements the methodical pace of gameplay. Accompanying music and sound effects are gentle and unobtrusive, providing subtle feedback for successful matches while maintaining a soothing overall ambiance. Luxor Mahjong excels in creating a stress-free puzzle environment. There are no harsh penalties for mistakes, no aggressive timers forcing rushed decisions, and no requirement to chase high scores unless players choose to do so. This design choice makes experimentation feel safe and encourages players to think several moves ahead without fear of immediate failure. As a result, the game is particularly appealing to those who enjoy puzzles as a way to unwind, offering a mental challenge that remains engaging without becoming exhausting or frustrating. That said, the game’s simplicity can also be its main limitation. Players looking for modern twists on the mahjong formula, deeper progression systems, or mechanically inventive variations may find the experience overly traditional. The presentation, while clean and functional, reflects its era and lacks the visual flair or advanced features seen in more recent puzzle titles. Over extended play, repetition can set in, as the core mechanics remain unchanged regardless of layout variety. However, for fans of classic mahjong solitaire, this familiarity is more of a strength than a drawback. Overall, Luxor Mahjong stands as a solid and dependable entry in the casual puzzle genre. Its emphasis on content quantity, accessibility, and a relaxed pace makes it an excellent choice for players who appreciate traditional tile-matching games and value calm, methodical gameplay. While it may not innovate dramatically or push the genre forward, it delivers exactly what it promises: a large collection of thoughtfully designed mahjong puzzles wrapped in a pleasant thematic presentation. For those seeking a timeless, low-pressure puzzle experience that can be enjoyed at any pace, Luxor Mahjong remains a satisfying and enduring option. Rating: 7/10
