Fundamentals: The shotgun is absolutely broken. Shooting at point blank range I've seen the enemy not taking the hit resulting in wasted ammo. The footsteps aren't properly synced with the character movements. The atmosphere isn't as gritty as it should've been for a survival horror. The graphics are cheap. No proper ambient occlusion, no fog, no proper shadows. Distant blur would've made the atmosphere 10x better. Looks like the first slender graphics implementation in most cases. You can pick up garbage bags through walls. And occasional frame stuck when transitioning between maps. And again, combat still isn't fluid at all. Lack of blood fx also makes it cheap. Man just buy The Killing Antidote. It's 100 times more polished and fun. Update(12/12/25): Forget about it people. It's still in the same broken state. Shotgun rounds literally phase through the first boss without dealing any damage. And still has no spread. Boss has zero reaction to getting hit by shotgun rounds. Sometimes pause menu gets freezed. BTW devs tried to fix the texture streaming issue that resulted in bad stuttering. Now the game loads assets beforehand which results in spikes of ram usage while loading. I've seen my 32gigs get filled up and then slowly released. It certainly HELPED the game performance though
Lurking Danger, developed and published by Farelas, is a survival horror experience that blends classic genre conventions with a distinctly indie sensibility. It follows two ordinary protagonists, Elena and Regina, whose routine lives take a sudden and unsettling turn when they become entangled in a strange and increasingly distorted reality. What begins as a grounded mystery gradually unfolds into a more surreal and threatening scenario, where the boundaries between the familiar and the unknown begin to blur. The narrative builds its tension through gradual escalation rather than immediate shock. Early moments establish a sense of normalcy, allowing players to become familiar with the characters and their environment before introducing elements of unease. As the story progresses, the world becomes more hostile and unpredictable, with events that challenge both the characters’ understanding of their situation and the player’s expectations. The game leans into ambiguity, revealing its story through exploration and fragmented encounters rather than direct exposition. This approach creates intrigue, though it can also make the narrative feel somewhat disjointed at times. Gameplay is rooted in traditional survival horror mechanics, combining exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat within confined and often oppressive environments. Players must navigate interconnected areas, search for key items, and manage limited resources while dealing with various threats. The balance between combat and avoidance is an important aspect of the experience, as not every encounter is best approached through direct confrontation. This encourages players to think strategically, weighing the risks of engaging enemies against the benefits of conserving resources. A notable feature of Lurking Danger is its support for cooperative play, allowing two players to experience the game together. This addition significantly alters the dynamic of the gameplay. When played solo, the game emphasizes isolation and vulnerability, reinforcing the tension that defines the genre. In contrast, cooperative play introduces a shared sense of survival, where communication and coordination become key factors. While this can make certain sections more manageable, it also shifts the tone, reducing some of the fear in favor of a more action-oriented experience. Atmosphere is one of the game’s stronger elements. The environments are designed to evoke a sense of unease, with dim lighting, confined spaces, and unsettling visual details contributing to a constant feeling of tension. The game often relies on suggestion rather than explicit horror, allowing players’ imagination to fill in the gaps. This approach can be effective, particularly in moments where the environment itself becomes a source of discomfort. However, the game’s indie origins are evident in its execution. Certain aspects of the presentation, including animations, character models, and dialogue delivery, can feel uneven or unpolished. These inconsistencies occasionally break immersion, though they can also lend the game a certain charm for players who appreciate a more rough-edged, “B-tier” horror aesthetic. The overall experience can shift between genuinely tense and unintentionally awkward, depending on how these elements come together. Combat mechanics add variety but are not always refined. Players have access to different ways of dealing with enemies, including both offensive and defensive options, but responsiveness and balance can be inconsistent. Enemy encounters sometimes feel repetitive, and while the game introduces more challenging moments, the overall variety remains limited. This can affect pacing, particularly in longer sections where the gameplay loop becomes more predictable. Visually, Lurking Danger presents a mix of effective environmental design and less polished elements. Some areas successfully create a strong sense of atmosphere, while others feel more generic. Despite these inconsistencies, the game manages to maintain a cohesive tone, particularly in darker and more confined spaces where lighting and layout contribute to the overall tension. Ultimately, Lurking Danger is a game that reflects both ambition and limitation. It brings together familiar survival horror elements with a few unique touches, such as its cooperative mode, but it does not fully refine these ideas into a consistently polished experience. There are moments where the game’s potential is clear, where its atmosphere and gameplay align to create genuine tension, but these are balanced by sections that highlight its rough edges. For players who enjoy indie horror and are open to experiences that trade polish for personality, Lurking Danger offers a journey that can be both engaging and occasionally memorable. While it may not stand alongside more refined entries in the genre, it succeeds in delivering a functional and sometimes compelling take on survival horror, particularly for those willing to embrace its imperfections. Rating: 6/10
cool game thanks for the dev.
o jogo ate tem potencial, na segunda fase o jogo fica bugado, portas trancadas ficaram abertas e sem nenhum aberração para matar cenário vazio. que pena que não da mais para pedir reembolso.
this indie horror developer makes sexy female protagonists, that alone is worth the buy. combat is like re4 style, guns and melee weapons. VA is good. easy puzzles. this is the first time the developer included solo and split screen co-op. I hope his other games include Co-op, previous games had NPC co-op. so far the developer has made 3 cheap horror games, and I mean cheap as in price, and I hope he continues to make horror games.
buen juego
