Selene's Unbearable Night was better but this title is OK. Gets bonkers the further it goes along.

At first I bought this game for playing on the Steamdeck. Everything seems fine but after the first intro video plays, the game will freeze on a black screen. Now that I also have a Legion Go2, I tried the game on this new handheld. The graphics look very nice, but the game is very poorly optimized. Lots of stutters and framedrops, sometimes to the point that you have to restart the game. It is somewhat playable, but with quite a bit of optimization problems. I do not recommend buying this game, unless you have a very beefy desktop PC. No handheld out there is gonna run this game flawless I can tell. Certainly not on a Steamdeck.
Also ich finde alles in allem kein schlechtes Spiel! ;)

I stunlocked the ♥♥♥♥ outta magnus and that old fool didn't see it coming bottle after bottle he kept turning around and I went in for the kill but he got one good shot on me and the whole game froze and didn't let me do anything anymore. Ah man. I really wanted to see what would happen with the ground beef walls and the silent hill 4 room. I guess I'll just have to try again another day. *sighs* ah gosh, is there a developer out there for lil ol me that could fix this game so I can have the best time of my life? Gee willickers that would be so nice.
Excelente juego !! 10/10
Generally speaking, the gameplay and plot are still very clunky and simple but functional enough, and the former unironically reminds me of certain recent AAA survival horror titles with similar control schemes at times (though also acknowledging certain details of this game’s influences, like how Elena's apartment has the same layout and serves the same function as Henry Townshend's). After playing through all of the developer's released opus so far though, I would say that Selene's Unbearable Night, which this is ostensibly a prequel of sorts to, probably has the most appeal for me both with how focused the gameplay progression is and with how it has the most shameless wackiness factor out of them all, being seriously dialed up at what feels like the best times. This did end up the buggiest game out of this developer’s offerings so far, though. The weird hiccup where the game's notoriously bad framerate drops, which were apparently a known issue and supposed to be fixed in the past, ended up consistently affecting me until I unplugged my controller (which, for full disclosure, is a DualSense connected through a spoofer dongle to make the computer read it as XInput), which is a shame as I used that same controller setup to play through both of the developer's previous titles. Optimization also didn't seem as good in this one, which is also a shame as that was something that lowkey impressed me in the preceding titles. Other bugs I encountered were the atomic ponytail (whatever visual those words bring to mind, it's probably somewhat accurate), an out of bounds shove that let me skip an entire chapter, a crawlspace softlock when going to get the MP5 on my second run, and some shenanigans with the save/load system that forced me to restart the game altogether in order to be able to start a new file without issues. Seeing the updates that this game ended up getting does give continue to give me a hopeful outlook for what this developer can accomplish, though.
