Warning: AI Slop Marketing materials for this product were produced with soulless AI generated content. The developer violated the Valve requirement to warn gamers about any use of AI slop in a direct attempt to use AI slop for profit.
This is another bit of empty Russian shovelware, a minimum viable product intended to scrape some roubles out of Steam. This time it looks like an Asteroids/SpaceWar/Star Control style arcade shooter, doesn't it? Nope, it's actually a lazy ripoff of Vampire Survivors. You do get your own attacks but most attacks are auto attacks... this has some progression but nothing interesting like Vampire Survivors... it's a weak, nasty ripoff that's more of a cash grab than a sincerely made game. The game is very simplistic, small and limited in scope and ambition. This feels more like a tech demo, proof of concept or student homework assignment rather than a fully fledged product designed for PC gamers. As such it doesn't offer any real value as a serious PC game. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic "retro" looking 2D graphics, and it's hard to say if this is due to the age of the assets used, if it's a deliberate attempt for the game to look bad/retro on purpose, or if the assets are just, well, terrible looking. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game in 2026, such poor quality 2D graphics in the 3D era just aren't good enough, whether it's a deliberate design fault on behalf of the developer or they just couldn't manage to do any better, this is a compromise gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content. Those technical issues put this game beneath what is expected from a contemporary, professionally developed PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. Is this game one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam? Lunaris is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The first thing the developer wants everyone to know is that they are "The Main Character". You, as a gamer, don't matter. They breach Valve guidelines for developers just to complain about a fully accurate and informative review (with facts their ego doesn't like). It's evident from their attitude that they never created this product with gamers in mind. They did so to stroke their own ego. When developers, especially failed ones who would never be able to get a professional job in the industry, put themselves before gamers, we end up with garbage products like this. That explains how this trash ended up on Steam, but it doesn't excuse it. At least we finally got to meet The Main Character, and nobody else matters. The developer straight off the bat strikes out with a lie, before attacking the review as being "toxic". The developer would have you believe he didn't want to get money for this garbage, then put a price tag on this AI slop marketed crapware. As always with dodgy devs, ignore their lies and watch their actions. The developer, who, according to himself, is the main character and more important than anyone else, attacks this review for being toxic but seems oblivious to the toxicity of using copyright infringing models and pushing AI slop and valueless games onto Steam. And take the developers utter failure into account when reviewing this breach of Valve guidelines. Only 4 concurrent players. Complete failure and incompetence given the pool of well over one hundred million gamers on the platform. The developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. Reviews are written to inform gamers about products and provide advice on whether a game is worth money, time, or both. Such developers often do not consider that, just like the reviews, games they make should be made for gamers, and not just to make the developer feel good about themselves. Regardless, game reviews are not written for the developer, and thus should not be taken personally if it turns out some (or most) people don't like their product. This review is not the cause of that failure, this review is more of an autopsy after the fact. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

Recommended — a surprisingly deep wave-survival roguelite Lunaris is a top-down space shooter built around timed waves: clear enemies, grab coins, survive until the timer runs out, then hit the shop and get stronger for the next round. Simple loop on paper, but it stays engaging because each run keeps throwing new stuff at you. Between waves the shop matters — you’re not just buying small stat bumps, you’re shaping how the run plays out. Crystal quests add another layer: optional objectives that push you toward riskier play for better rewards. Wave events (dust storms, meteor showers, elite frenzy, ion storms, gold fever) break up the rhythm so runs don’t feel samey. Boss waves are a highlight. Multi-phase fights, shield mechanics, and real pressure — especially in co-op, where everyone shares one arena for the boss while normally each player has their own arena and shop. Steam lobby co-op works well for that “same run, different lanes” feel, and waiting for the whole party at the shop before the next wave is a nice touch. Outside runs there’s meta progression (Ultra coins, skill tree nodes), difficulty modes (Easy vs Normal, with Normal unlocking after you’ve dipped into Easy), leaderboards, and even Steam collectibles. UI and menus support several languages, which is a plus. It’s not a AAA spectacle, but for a wave-based roguelite it’s polished where it counts: readable combat, a strong upgrade loop, co-op that actually changes how you play, and enough systems to keep “one more run” going. If you like Vampire Survivors-style escalation with more shop/build depth and co-op boss fights, Lunaris is worth your time.
LUNARIS is a top-down space roguelite built around a tight wave → shop → power-up loop. Each wave runs on a timer: you fly your ship, dodge swarms, collect credits, and survive until intermission. Then the shop opens — and that’s where the run really starts. Between waves you’re rolling and buying passive weapons (turrets, rockets, chain lightning, drones, mines, and more), active abilities (dash, EMP, singularity beacon, support frigate, coin magnet), and passive items that reshape your build. Runs escalate fast: early on you’re scraping by, mid-run you’re a flying arsenal with six systems firing at once. Boss waves are a clear step up — Star Reaper, Rubicon, Void Anchor, Brood Nexus — with real pressure and spectacle, not just bigger HP bars. There’s meta progression between runs (HP, damage, starting credits, extra waves), plus crystal quests that add optional goals mid-run. The game-over screen with a damage breakdown is a nice touch — you actually see what killed you. Co-op is Steam friends lobby, up to 4 players. Everyone runs their own arena for now (shared boss waves coming), but it already feels social: ready up, host picks difficulty, party HUD with stats. Best part: if you die but a teammate reaches the shop, you revive at intermission instead of losing everything. Verdict: confident indie roguelite with strong buildcrafting, readable combat, and a co-op foundation that’s smarter than most early implementations. If you like survivors/roguelites with active ship combat and a shop that matters — worth your time. Recommended.
