About
You are an angler haunted by huge debts. In the midst of yet another night working at sea, you catch something different: a fish which talks, and promises to make you rich... but at what cost?
A brief (around 30 minutes) fishing horror game about debt and hopelessness. Enjoy a twisted cautionary tale in one sitting.
Underwater eye-cam. Watch the fish biting the lure, then retrieve it as fast as you can. Be careful though: something else may be watching you as well...
Fish and gut. Fly-fish like a pro, then gut your catch to keep 'em fresh. Be careful with the knife though: you don't want to cut yourself.
The talking fish wants a deal. Consider the alluring promises of this mysterious being through surreal dialogues and twisted choices.
The loan shark is coming. This is no relaxing cozy fishing experience. Your time is running out, and something horrible lurks in the water.
Loan Shark – Hooked on Bad Decisions
Went in expecting an unsettling little game about eldritch fish and questionable business practices. Walked out with some surprisingly memorable life lessons. The underwater sound design is excellent, and the game uses silence and sudden audio cues to create some genuinely unnerving moments. Rather than relying on constant scares, it builds tension through atmosphere. I'd describe it as psychological horror more than traditional horror, and I think it's much stronger because of that. The game also has a great sense of humor despite its unsettling atmosphere. What really surprised me was how much going for every achievement added to the game. I ended up using a guide to find everything, and I'm glad I did. Discovering every ending completely changed my perspective on the story. Each one left me with something different to think about, making the whole experience feel far richer than a single playthrough. The controls can feel a little clunky, the fish gutting is occasionally janky, and the game feels surprisingly demanding to run for an indie title. None of it was enough to take away from the experience. Considering how much it left me thinking afterward, the price feels more than fair for what you're getting. One small thing to note is that increasing the UI scale also increases the subtitle size, so you may want to adjust it on larger displays. I came for the fish. I stayed for the existential crisis.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

An on-rails fishing horror game whose ~30' of scripted content leave little room for meaningful choice. You fish from a tiny boat to repay a debt to a loan shark, while a magical one-eyed fish gradually takes over the story. The premise has some clever wordplay (loan shark/shark, the Italian idiom "cost an eye of the head" becoming literal, and "take the bait" referring both to fishing and being conned) but the execution is bland, predictable and insignificant. The fishing is barely a minigame: wait for a fish, hold the mouse when tension is low, then gut it by dragging the cursor. There is no depth, and the slow repetition becomes tedious. The gutting is janky, with the knife sometimes clipping beneath the sheet. Controls are poorly explained: the "tutorial" is a vague journal on the boat that can be missed, leaving players to discover basic mechanics through trial and error. The horror fares little better. A handful of extremely loud, cheap jumpscares (without even a volume option) cannot make the lifeless environment scary. The game clearly aims for Iron Lung-style minimalism, but lacks its tension, while the underwater giant is barely exploited. Your choices barely matter. Even having the debt money or reaching the port changes nothing, and the magical fish cannot meaningfully be avoided. The messy story railroads you toward an abrupt ending, making the fishing feel like an obstacle to a plot that isn't worth stopping for. The moral is simplistic. The developers later added alternative endings after criticism, but they feel rushed and tacked-on, and don't solve the fundamental problems. The tiny boat conveniently avoids having to build a larger world, while even the supposedly important port and loan shark are represented only by text on a grey screen. The sloppy writing also awkwardly invokes Neapolitan names and Giambattista Basile's Cagliuso while sounding like generic modern dialogue. Loan Shark feels rushed, underdeveloped and unnecessary. If you paid for this instead of Dredge, Wretched Depths (free to play), Don't Sleep With the Fishes, Gone Fishing or Fishing Vacation, you've simply taken the bait. 2/10
Loan Shark is an interesting game. It's basically a loan shark awareness PSA disguised as a horror game, but that in no way harms the experience. The message never comes across as on the nose or cheesy. Instead, it's intertwined with the gameplay surprisingly well. The game does a great job of making you feel like other people govern your existence. They do what they want, whenever they want, and you're powerless because you owe them money. That constant feeling of helplessness is what makes the horror work so well. While the horror isn't perfect, it still lands more often than not. The scenery is ominous, the atmosphere is unsettling, and the game does a good job of creating tension throughout. Overall, I'd say it's worth a shot for any fan of psychological horror.
Go get a job, damn it!
Something about being on that little boat at night with Italian music on the radio, looking up at the beautiful moon whilst having my fishing skill criticised by an ugly, tough talking fish really charmed me. The music and visuals were my favourite things about the game. The storyline is quite short but there are a variety of different outcomes to encourage a few more playthroughs. Really can't complain about the length of the game at such a low price. Catching the fish involves a bit of well timed button mashing but the gutting of the fish feels a bit awkward movement wise. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
морская гопота не дает рыбачить.
100% gpu usage constantly on a 5090 for the 10 minutes i had it up. It never went down, insane, wasn't even maxed settings.
Certainly worth the 30-40 minutes. Tells a simple but salient story that all that glimmers isn't gold
its so much fun i got molested by underwater sausage fingers
