About

In this tragic, dark fantasy visual novel, you play as Tasuku, a young warrior training with the other warriors who have sworn their lives to defending all humanity against the horrific monsters that will one day rise again to exterminate the populace. When the return of the Dark Reign comes early, you must take up arms and fulfill your oath. Empowered by magic fueled by the strength of the bond between you and your chosen comrade-in-arms, it is up to you and your lover to stop the resurgence of monsters — no matter the cost.

Tasuku and his fellow warriors face the "hollows" — horrendous monsters whose very touch can corrupt foes and quickly render them to ash.
Tasuku and his fellow warriors have mastered the art of using magic to stave off corruption, enhance their prowess, and heal from battle — but the strength of said magic relies on the bonds cultivated between partners.

Even though their odds of personal survival are grim, that won't stop Tasuku from finding hope and love with one of his four potential partners.

Penned by Kurashiki Tatsuya, writer for Maggot Baits and DEAD DAYS, the tale of L.k.y.t is full of deeply emotional moments and realistic struggles as it delves into the heart of what it means to regularly risk one's life for the sake of others.

Love Kills You Twice
Update: This review has been revised into my updated review format, including a new At a Glance section for quicker reader guidance and a clearer distinction between recommendation, audience fit, playtime, and MLM tags. At a Glance Recommendation: Recommended with strong caveats Best For: Players who want a polished, emotionally punishing M/M tragic fantasy with serious narrative ambition. Not For: Players looking for escapist romance, happy endings, or affirming wish fulfillment. Playtime: Around 10 hours per route, with substantially more time needed for full completion. MLM Tags: MLM, M4M, Visual Novel, Drama, Dark, Sex-Forward, Heavy Themes 💬 Supportive Caveat Lkyt is a tragedy in the most literal sense, and the game is honest about that from the start. There are no happy endings, no routes where the protagonist escapes suffering, and no version of this story where love leads to peace. Every route ends in loss, sacrifice, and death. This is also a game with intense content. It includes repeated character deaths, themes of self-sacrifice, emotional repression, and occasional but extremely graphic violence, including a torture sequence that is difficult to watch even in a visual novel format. If you are sensitive to violence or looking for escapism, this is not the game for you. While the game features exclusively male love interests and centers on M/M intimacy, it is not a romantic fantasy. It is a heroic tragedy set in a fantasy world where duty, honor, and collective responsibility take precedence over personal happiness. Approach it with that expectation, or not at all. 🎮 Gameplay & Genre Lkyt is a route-based fantasy visual novel with a strong focus on narrative over interactivity. Each route contains relatively few choices, typically between two and four, but those decisions carry significant weight and determine which ending you receive. A single route can take around 10 hours to complete, with total playtime extending well beyond that if you explore multiple paths. Mechanically, it is a straightforward visual novel, but it is extremely well constructed. The branching is meaningful, the pacing is deliberate, and the overall structure reinforces the game’s tragic design. This is not a game about optimizing outcomes. It is about witnessing how each path inevitably collapses under the same thematic weight. 🔥 M/M Content This is explicitly M/M in structure. The protagonist, Tasuku, only pursues male relationships, and all major routes center on intimacy with male love interests. However, this is not a romance-driven experience. The relationships are situational, often born out of shared trauma, duty, or circumstance rather than mutual attraction from the outset. What makes these routes more affecting than they may first appear is that Tasuku’s desire for these men often reads as one of the first times in his life that he wants something for himself rather than for duty or country. That gives the intimacy real emotional weight, even when the story denies it lasting fulfillment. The sexual content is explicit, well-illustrated, and fully voiced. Scenes are intense and physically expressive, but they are frequently framed through embarrassment, internal conflict, or cultural expectations around masculinity and duty. The protagonist himself shows discomfort with his desires, and there are undertones that may read as shame-coded depending on the player’s perspective. Consent is generally contextual rather than purely romantic. Bonds and relationships form under pressure, obligation, or shared circumstance rather than clear, enthusiastic pursuit from the beginning. This is M/M intimacy filtered through tragedy, not wish fulfillment. 🎨 Visuals & Style The game is exceptionally polished. Character sprites are detailed and expressive, CGs are beautifully rendered, and the visual direction supports both the intimacy and the brutality of the story without feeling disjointed. The Japanese voice acting is a standout element. All dialogue is voiced, and the performances add significant emotional weight to both quiet character moments and more intense scenes. Combined with the soundtrack, the overall atmosphere is immersive and consistently aligned with the game’s tone. UI and progression systems are clean and functional, with a detailed completion tracker that reflects how much of the story has been uncovered. 🗣️ Tone & Writing The writing is the strongest aspect of the game. This is a deeply committed tragic narrative rooted in themes of duty, sacrifice, and the cost of prioritizing the collective over the individual. It draws heavily on Japanese cultural ideas of honor and responsibility to the group above self-interest, and it never compromises those themes to provide comfort or relief. What makes the tragedy especially effective, and especially punishing, is that the game frames Tasuku’s longing for love, sex, and personal connection as a genuine awakening of selfhood, only to sacrifice that awakening to the same machinery of duty and collective obligation that governs every route. Importantly, the game does not mislead the player. It presents itself as a tragedy and follows through completely. The lack of a good ending is not a failure of design, but a deliberate and consistent choice. That said, players seeking affirming, escapist M/M storytelling will likely find the tone misaligned with their expectations. Love here is not a resolution. It is part of the cost. 👍 Best Thing The writing and overall narrative design are exceptional. This is a fully realized tragic story that commits to its themes without compromise, supported by strong voice acting and polished presentation. 👎 Worst Thing There is no emotional payoff in the traditional sense. Every route ends in loss, and the combination of repeated tragedy, shame-coded intimacy, and occasional graphic violence will be deeply alienating for players seeking romantic or escapist M/M content. ⭐ Final Verdict Recommended with strong caveats. Lkyt is a beautifully made, narratively ambitious M/M tragic fantasy that succeeds on its own terms. I recommend it for its craft, seriousness, and commitment to MLM storytelling, not because it offers emotional release or romantic payoff. It bears repeating: this is not a romance, not an escapist experience, and not aligned with the kind of affirming M/M fantasy many players in this space are looking for. Approach it as a dark, culturally grounded tragedy that happens to center M/M relationships, not as a story about love leading to happiness.
Nota Geral
Character Design: 9,9 Lore: 10,0 Endings: 9,8 CGs: 10,0 Visual/Sound Effects: 10,0 OP/ED/Soundtrack: 10,0 +18 Scenes: 9,5 Voice Actors: 9,75 Entertainment value: 10,0 TOTAL: 9,883
A lore merece destaque especial.
você não me engana, Parade!
Bom jogo! :D
A beautiful story that made me want to cry and throw up—and not necessarily in the exact order. This is one of parade's more serious works which they definitely delivered. The romance between Tasuku and the other LIs—Takeru, Yael, Towa, and Ango—were realistically and intricately depicted in this visual novel's depressing world. The title of this VN, once revealed, really does sum up the entire story. It felt frustrating yet bittersweet how much tragedy occurred, but the love felt between Tasuku and the others was still real (well, I still have my reservations with Ango). I really enjoyed Takeru and Towa's routes the most; Takeru's dignified appearance and gap moe were really adorable!! And Towa was beautiful and sexy to look at/hear the entire time. My only complaints were that the routes seemed to converge too much with each other, and it would've been nice to explore interactions between LIs more. The gore scenes were also a little hard to stomach, which—I suppose—isn't uncommon compared to other parade games. Nevertheless, I look forward to other Steam releases from parade in the future.
im not ok. BRING BACK YAEL AND TASUKU!!!!!! IMCRIngf stop this. sobifnf fhfhhhh eueueu YAELLLLLLL YAEEEEELELLLLLL YAAAAAAAEEEEEEL come back tome...........
