About
Letters from the War is a modern reimagining of text adventure games with a new gameplay based on postal censorship during Second World War. You will take the role of a newly hired employ of the Censorship Authority, where your actions will impact on the future of your nation.
Censor letters coming from soldiers at the front trying to understand what you need to do not to be fired. Censoring critical information you will get commendations from your boss, but the citizens who youl receive the letters will not understand their content. Leaving the information readable you will risk to be fired in order to let the people know what is really happening. What will you do? Will you find the correct balance?
The game takes place in Vitulia, a fictional country involved in Second World War. An authoritarian regime rules in Vitualia, which controls the masses thanks to its supervision on public information. Will you change that?
Experience a well-finished pixel art and an original soundtrack that will immerse you in the atmosphere of those years. Newspaper, letters and country spots were created, along with the music pieces, taking inspiration from first half of last century sources, but redesigned to enhance player experience.

Molto carino come concetto spero di poterlo vedere sviluppato in un gioco completo.
I generally try not to down-vote indie games, but this one is unfortunately not worth playing. The concept is a great one, however the game itself is short and offers no challenge to anyone who's age is in the double digits.

Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"Letters from the War" is a weak pixelcrap ripoff of "Papers, Please!" made with disgusting, insulting AI slop... so just like the developer couldn't come up with their own idea for a game, they couldn't even work out how to make pixelcrap properly so they used a diffusion model. AI slop is a disgusting insult to gamers everywhere. What do you do in the game? This ripoff of "Papers, Please!" has you censoring letters instead of approving incoming travelers, and comes across as much worse than "Papers, Please!", not least because of all the garbage AI slop. So, it's hard to describe this as a game, the focus of the product is more like that of an e-book/visual novel, there's only minor, shallow and uninteresting gameplay elements. The crux of this is to push some very low quality, badly done fan-fiction tier writing, where we see once more a developer fail to understand the importance of "Show, don't tell", and for whatever reason, weren't able to convey their narrative through gameplay, giving us endless lines of badly written e-book text instead. My gaming rig is not a kindle. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere.
You can left-click and you can right-click to (un)censor things, thats it. It is free so its not like you loose anything.
Very short. Interesting conceptually. Agree with the other reviews that some type of feedback loop would help. Without it you can just aggressively censor to win the game and there is no negative repercussion such as knowing you aren't maximizing the info that reaches the recipient.
Un bon jeu très court mais bien conceptualisé. Merci aux guides de la communauté pour trouver les différentes façons d'obtenir les fins.
i do like this game...... first mission was a bit hard but after thatm you get the hang of things easily! the only thing i did NOT like about this game was how short it was! i got through each mission quickly! if there was more to it, i would 100% CHANGE MY REVIEW
