Decent VN, but I have no idea where it's heading so far
好结局不错,其他四个结局太抽象
great as a narrative FMV (a near one), story rich itself and also the voice actings are great, if you love reading novels or ace attorney type of games, just love it.
爱相随同款画风,优秀的剧情,很难不好评!
√Letter (Root Letter) — 14.5h played | 26/26 achievements | Visual Novel / Mystery

TL;DR — A Japanese mystery visual novel mixing heartfelt nostalgia, pen-pal drama, and a long-buried murder story. Elegant presentation, clever interrogation mechanics, and top-tier soundtrack. A must-have for VN fans.
You ever get that letter that changes everything? That’s the premise of Root Letter (stylized √Letter): fifteen years after your high-school correspondence, one last message arrives… and it hints at murder. So off you go — back to your hometown, chasing memories, classmates, and ghosts (emotional or not). The story blends small-town melancholy with investigation and psychological tension — very Japanese in tone, but universally relatable in theme. What makes √Letter stand out is its hybrid structure: half mystery VN, half light detective sim. You don’t just “click to continue” — you dig through menus, question people, and use a “tension system” where you must press the right words at the right time to break through their lies. It gives the genre a touch of energy that most visual novels sorely lack. Visually, it’s beautifully crafted. Anime-style art with a realistic, almost cinematic sense of atmosphere. The characters feel like they stepped out of an actual anime adaptation (which, honestly, wouldn’t surprise me if one day it happened). The environments — cafés, schools, harbor towns — ooze authenticity and nostalgia. The soundtrack is stellar. Gentle piano themes, melancholic strings, and ambient soundscapes that immerse you instantly. Easily a 5/5 on the audio side. Story-wise, it’s original without going off the rails: a blend of slice-of-life, thriller, and emotional catharsis. The mystery evolves naturally, the emotional beats land, and even though it’s not full of plot twists, it keeps you engaged till the end. The difficulty also scales nicely thanks to the interrogation system — you actually need to pay attention, which makes it more interactive than most of its peers. Technical side? Clean and stable. Everything works as intended — maybe a bit stiff in the UI, but solid overall. Bottom line: √Letter is an excellent example of how to do a slow-burn, emotionally charged mystery VN right. It’s stylish, heartfelt, and satisfying. Fully recommended — no sale excuse needed. Idk how they managed to make a murder mystery boring, but they somehow did it.
