reminded me of zelda
Legionwood 1: Tale of the Two Swords
I was surprised. I played this just because it happened to be in my library. The combat and game play were decent, but the good stuff are the story and characters. It's hard for me to get into stories anymore (probably because I've worn myself out on entertainment over the years) so I'm glad I enjoyed this.
Legionwood: Tale of Two Swords is well written, with an interesting storyline and characters. For a free game, it is well worth investing time into, and is not too short. While the graphics may not be original or particularly groundbreaking, it remains an interesting game. You are given almost complete freedom in how you allocated stats, and spells/abilities (called techs in this game) and which weaponry you choose, for each playable character, essentially allowing you to create customised classes. This does feel a bit daunting to start off with, if you are used to more structured classes for characters, however the advantage here is that at any point out of battle you can choose to redistribute your stat points, without any additional costs. This gives you great flexibility and means you can experiment with how you want to battle. The dungeons can be a trek, but are usually entertaining and there are always save points/heal points before the boss which is good. The quests are pretty standard, they are not overly hard. There are some features that are not so great however. At least on my computer, you could not change tabs, meaning if you want to quickly check something you have to find a point you can save at, save, close the game, do whatever you wanted to, reopen the game, load your save file. There are no detailed maps and the world map you get isn't the best. It also can only be accessed via the inventory, which makes it annoying when you want to quickly bring it up. This isn't a huge problem, most of the time if you walk around enough you should find the next place you need to be, and there are no battles in the overworld so it isn't as frustrating when you walk off course. Later in the game when you have more than 4 playable characters, it is harder to switch them out, because to do so you must go to the inventory and then select the item that allows you to change your party and then select the party, without being able to have an overview of who they are and what their stats are. You can't compare characters. It disincentivises ensuring that all your characters are strong, in a way because it is an effort to switch them out.
Great RPG especially when it's free. There is however too much reading and you find yourself constantly healing after each battle.
