Me gusta lo simple pero lo completo que es.

Grazie a Legend Bowl ho rivissuto i tempi in cui da adolescente giocavo a Madden NFL 2001 su PS1, uno dei titoli sportivi più profondi a cui abbia mai giocato. Che è poi anche il videogioco che mi ha fatto appassionare al football americano, ovvero lo sport statunitense che più statunitense non si può, tanto che in Europa e nel resto del mondo non è che poi sia così diffuso. Lento ma incredibilmente violento, estremamente tattico-strategico e pieno di regole ma spettacolare allo stesso tempo, questo sport l'ho riscoperto proprio grazie a Legend Bowl, gioco pazzesco se si considera anche che sia stato sviluppato da una sola persona, ovvero King Javo. E Legend Bowl non solo è divertente e profondo ma offre anche altissimi livelli di personalizzazione, visto che puoi modificare sia le squadre, dai loro nomi ai campi di gioco, che i giocatori sotto ogni punto di vista, dall'altezza al colore delle sopracciglia. Ciò significa che è un gioco che si presta moltissimo alle mod, di cui ormai se ne trovano veramente un sacco e si possono liberamente scaricare direttamente dalla pagina Discord di Legend Bowl, e naturalmente c'è pure una mod riguardante l'attuale stagione NFL. Perché sì, le squadre di default sono tutte inventate, seppur spesso ispirate a quelle realmente esistenti, tipo i Miami Sharks che si rifanno palesemente ai Miami Dolphins. E il bello è che alcuni giocatori si rifanno in certe occasioni, a loro volta, a personaggi fittizi creati addirittura nel mondo del cinema come Ray Finkle, il kicker immaginario del primo "Ace Ventura", film che adoro fin da bambino, e questi sono tocchi di classe che mi piacciono un botto. Il tutto viene reso ancora più bello dalla grafica pixellosissima, veramente stupenda. E in linea con la grafica pure la colonna sonora in totale chiptune-style, anche se forse si potevano creare più composizioni visto che non sono tantissime. Insomma, questo e molto altro (tipo la ricchissima modalità Franchise) troverete in Legend Bowl, continuamente supportato con nuovi contenuti dal buon King Javo. Che, fra l'altro, nel 2024 ha dato seguito a Legend Bowl creando College Bowl, improntato invece totalmente sul football universitario. Inutile specificare che ho acquistato anche questo episodio ma lo devo ancora giocare. Prima o poi lo farò e vi dirò com'è.

Where do I begin? Opened the game, selected the simcade preset, did the tutorial, tried to play an exhibition game, had an awful time, quit. No time to throw, the "shot meter" on passes and kicks is awful, running is basically impossible. I almost think the devs should just start over from scratch rather than try to fix this game. I'm not going to refund this game, just in case the devs somehow fix the issues, but god, this game is awful.

This is the greatest football video game I've ever played. Please continue to build on Legend Bowl!

The NFL mod installing it into this game was great. The only problem that I'm having trouble with and it's because I have a DLC along with the game, is that I cannot install a custom team and player roster for the NCAA mod to this game. I might have to wait until I purchase College Bowl and see what happens when I install the customs in there. The game is awesome, much better than Madden, guaranteed!

I like the game a lot when it's on sale for $9.99. Bought a few copies for some friends too. Regular price is $25 but I think that is a little steep. The game plays like you'd expect a 8bit football game to play right down to the awkward 4-directional movement, and timing meters for passing/kicking. I'm a big fan of the way endurance/speed is handled (players slow down then become GASSED) The dev puts a fun twist on the sound too as players yell out some funny/entertaining quips like Omaha! The game has some depth as well allowing you to upgrade your stadium/facilities, sign players and even import a draft class from their stand alone college football game if you have that. Its hard too, at least imo. I struggled bad on Pro and had to reduce the difficulty to semi pro. Now that I've found some plays that work and understand the mechanics better I think I'm ready to go back up to Pro. But there is definiteley a learning curve.
