Before I played LEADING the DEAD, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
"LEADING the DEAD" is just a low key asset flip.. the quality of the assets is significantly higher than the actual game is, and I've seen those assets used in so many other games (deja vu!). Who's going to create a bunch of high quality assets and then phone in the actual game? It doesn't add up... unless you consider how easy it is for anyone, even people unqualified to make games, to get any and all the game assets they want. The game is essentially a kitbash of assets made by other people, poorly assembled by an amateur developer. These projects are usually rushed through Steam Direct as fast as possible, and the lack of professional standards means the end result is something no gamer should waste their time on. In this case an almost novel game was made out of other people's Zombie assets (and those shipping containers you see everywhere that say "Cargo" on the side). It's a kiting simulator as you run around some zombies and get you to follow them, then lead them into traps and things to take care of them. Almost an interesting idea, except then you realize you could do that in games like 7 Days to Die except that also has like an entire survival game on it as well... which this doesn't. Developer should always be aware that their game doesn't exist in a vaccuum... gamers have thousands of games to choose from, and releasing a game that's notably worse than hundreds of other games that do a better job of the same thing isn't good for anyone. So, the game might look better than you'd expect from an amateur project, but this is because it's partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Very little in this game is truly the creation of the "developer", it's just a bunch of rearranged assets. While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, we quickly find they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "LEADING the DEAD". There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of 2 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough. There are over 140,000 games on Steam, not every one of them is a hidden gem. I'm here to help gamers find the ones that actually matter in that sea of Steam Direct self-published mess. If you don't agree with my findings in this review, you should definitely download it and play it to see for yourself. I'm happy to have helped you make an informed choice, regardless of the outcome.
