Excellent game that I still think about after finishing. Enjoyable puzzles with many items to find and fetch with only light scares. I can't think of an adventure/puzzle game that provided so much entertainment at such a low cost. For me, a 10/10.
I give this game a positive review because I think it has an interesting story concept with a great use of atmospheric horror. I enjoyed the story, ambient sounds, and general mechanic with the stone figures throughout the game. The main thing I didn't like was CONSTANTLY getting to the next objective and realizing I needed to "find ANOTHER replacement part" or "a key to unlock the next door." You can only use the same horror-game trope so many times before it becomes exhausting. Overall, I liked the concept of the game but the gameplay itself left me kind of annoyed. I would recommend this game with the caveat that you will be constantly backtracking and finding objects to unlock doors, with very little monster interaction.

Overall an okay experience. The game is stable and runs well. When it comes to the actual contents of the game the first 30 minutes are very tense and well crafted. After that though, the game turns into too much collection and obscure puzzling to maintain momentum. The enemies are not actually enemies apart from scaring you for the entire game. They scare, but literally only bump into the player. This diffuses the tension severely. The only actual dangers are in scripted events. The game would have benefited from the following changes: 1. More consequential enemies, but fewer of them. (Lorewise the sheer number of mannequins is already difficult to explain. The ship must seemingly have had a crew in the thousands given the sheer number of encounters) 2. More information and background. We get some scattered notes, which are very good. More would have been appreciated to further build the tension up. If you have a fear of ships or mannequins this will probably be a very scary experience, and I would argue it is worth playing through anyway for the first 30 minutes alone if nothing else.
Tense scary game at times. I kept getting lost and confused. but i think that's just me being silly. Yeah i enjoyed it.
Giving it a positive review since there is not a neutral option. The map levels and environment are good. The puzzles do get a bit monotonous but not annoyingly so. Sound design is excellent! And I loved the interactions with
ghosts of the crew
. The biggest issues are the enemies and the story. The most common enemies,
the calcified
, pose no threat after the first jump scare or two. There is no consequences with them and they are more annoying than anything after a while.
The spiders
are the only enemy that actually killed me once, but they appear too infrequent to be anything more than a minor concern.
Scooba Steve
is just....there. The first encounter is heart racing and an excellent introduction, but after that he's just another obstacle to avoid. They are not badly designed, just not used to their full potential. The story is disjointed. While parts of it are flushed out well from the notes, how everything ties together is never explained.
How does the Fog and the artifact relate to one another? What's the story behind the Hayes, the spiders, Scooba Steve, and the research vessel disappearance? Why do we see only one "weird contraption" built by Hayes when the notes say they are all over the ship?
It's a lot of good pieces but no direct connections and I couldn't find anything flushed out with research outside the game. Seems like two different puzzles where one is nice and put together but the other is just there to check boxes off the horror genre list, and the two don't really connect with one another. Overall, pretty good. I wouldn't call this a horror, maybe an introductory horror or a thriller. It's a good starter game if you're just getting into the horror genre.
Great game, played it with my partner who isn't really a gamer and has struggled with controllers. She got to grips with this game and it was good experience for her. We enjoyed the puzzles, atmosphere and we were both spooked. For a very small team they've done a great job at making a 3ish hour experience which is a good length, it didn't overstay its welcome.
Sorry but i just cant recommend this. It's not a Horror game. The jumpscares are getting old very quick and theres no Tension in this game. if you like walking sims - okay. I am a bit sad that theres no real story in the game.
this game is sooooo freaking GOOD! I LOVE IT SO MUCH THAT I MADE IT 100%!! This is so underated.
Similar to SOMA but minus the deep plot.
Coming off the tail of "The door in the Basement", the team has done it again. Exceptional atmosphere. I was completely immersed from start to finish. Lazaret looks and sounds fantastic while being very well optimized. Exploration and puzzles were satisfying. Though the narrative is a bit cliche, piecing it together was a lot of fun. I do wish there were more moments of real danger, the game ultimately plays like an ultra-immersive point-and-click adventure with a few true survival moments. Though it was also somewhat refreshing to not be constantly worried about patrolling monsters. These guys have not let me down yet.
