Man I played this as a kid. 5 minutes in and I'm already getting goosebumps. 2 hours in, and I start remembering the twins...... now I'm looking for them at every corner. Creepy little freaks. I also remember getting stuck after using the axe and trying to water the stumpy neck cause I wasn't sure what to do next. Can't wait to try it again.
Having played the originals, I purchased this and sadly due to motion sickness could not continue after 20 or so minutes; however, after deleting the game and requesting an immediate refund, the game disappeared from my account. So now I will have to figure out how to get my $10.46 refund (sale price). Not very happy about this snafu but if you don't suffer from seizures or nausea from motion sickness it seems like a good game? Please refund, STEAM?
Fun game and as expected by the autor previous works.
Highly recommended ...for the right person. The best way I can describe this game is similar to an old point and click adventure BUT updated to a modern platform in full 3D.... with a little bit of FPS into the mix. Don't be expecting a common FPS, there's no CoD 360 no-scope'ing going on here. It's not an action-packed shooter. It's not an RGP with a million different stats to choose which to level up either. It's a good old fashioned adventure game. With modern tech. And I love it. I'm really glad the developer took the plunge to transform it into an interactive fully 3D world, it is so worthwhile. Now I just need someone to do the same with Monkey Island and my life would be complete 😂 It is clearly an indie game, it has a few lack of refinements (like redefining keys is a bit hit and miss, the ones you do define don't change the tooltip, and it forgets my FOV every time i load a new part of the map). But there's also a charm in slightly unpolished indie titles too. You don't feel that cookie-cutter yet another remake feeling that you get from the big brands. It feels more like reading a book where you experience what the author wants you to experience, unlike the big brand releases which feel like just another product of a bunch of corporate execs sat round a corporate meeting room table ticking boxes and only interested in making a profit. With this game you really feel connected to an authentic experience that someone wanted to share, a project of passion. The ambience and visuals/artwork are incredibly good. It looks stunning. You really feel immersed and enveloped in exploring this haunted house. You get sucked into the story line. You feel constantly compelled to unravel the next piece of the mystery. The scary bits will really send a shiver up your spine. It feels like a real and authentic scary experience, not just going through the motions like so many modern scary titles. Real creativity and ingenuity. An intriguing story and atmosphere to lose yourself in. The puzzles and exploration, working things out, are challenging enough to give you something to think about, but not so obscure that it gets frustrating. The FPS elements are primitive but add a lot to the experience. Having to always be alert; having to react and aim fairly fast and accurately on occasion, and feel like the constant need to be defend yourself adds to the horror and immersion, and adds a bit of a fun distraction inbetween exploring and solving puzzles. Overall if you like adventure, like horror games, exploration and immersion with an intriguing backstory, then you really need to give this one a go.
I loved this game. It's beautiful to look at and still has all the charm of the original Last Half of Darkness games but in a much glossier and smoother format. I play a lot of horror games and few of them stick in my memory like this one did. It's not a short game either - there's loads of playability for your money.
good game
非常好玩 环环相扣的解密 缺点是没有中文。。。
I have fond memories of playing the shareware version of the original Last Half Of Darkness as a child in the nineties, so it was nice to see this remake available, and even nicer to play it. This is a horror adventure game, played in the first person, where you make your way through a haunted estate, reading notes, collecting items, and solving the odd puzzle as you go. There are action elements as well, and fortunately you find a gun early on that comes in handy. The game looks beautiful, especially the haunted mansion itself (and especially from the outside), and the sound does a lot to add to the atmosphere. Everything feels ominous, and when I was playing at two in the morning with headphones in a dark room, I literally felt tingles at times. The only downside to this game is that it can feel clunky at times, and there were three times I can recall in a dozen-ish hours of play that I got stuck in the scenery and had to reload. However, this only happened because I was jumping around in odd places looking for the collectible coins you can find for an achievement (and jumping around is not really necessary, since they are mostly out in the open if you keep an eye out). Bottom line, this game is basically everything I look for in a horror game, and is all the more impressive as an indie game (and a remake of another classic indie game). I went through it twice, and give it my highest recommendation.
