Its very retro. Insta-death pits everywhere and 1-2 save points per zone so youll be doing a lot of running back to places you mess up. Controls are pretty solid. You can only see the map of the zone you are in which is kinda annoying. You can only see the whole map when you go to teleport. Bosses were good and enemy variety was solid. I thought it was really good up to the final area and then it just got frustrating more than anything with precise jumps and doors that lead to nothing and force you to suicide. When climbing up ladders your character doesnt get off the ladder when you reach the top. You have to jump first. It was pretty annoying to deal with. There were also a lot of times id zone into a room and an enemy would be standing right there and instantly hit me before I could react. Also finishing the game doesnt save it. After finishing the last boss and loading back in I am missing the spikestompers and a lot of the map isnt filled in so make sure you save before the final boss. Very annoying. Took a little over 2 hours to finish. Going to land in C tier for me. If you can tolerate a lot of frustrations this one may hit home for those seeking a retro experience.

Great game, it was well worth the wait. I love these kind of games so I do see myself putting in some hefty hours into this after a long day, but I wanted to talk about a couple of things, rather than leaving some generic "pog game, keep it up" type of feedback. Some general things I liked within the first hour of playing: First thing, I love the humor some of the characters have. The dialog provides obvious information, but how they say it is kind of funny to me, which of course brings personality to a potentially frustrating run, even for new players who just bought the game. Second, can we address the kill counter? I like this concept of how many times I failed in a save file. I really like the music during this transition, which was one of the big reasons why I was so eager to play this, but obviously the core gameplay matters more than a death jingle (for me it's different because I'm just bad at games in general lolol). The core gameplay is nice, like how your screen moves if you go into a different section (I know that retro games already do this). The map is what keeps me playing because I have that "itch" to explore every single little thing on the map to uncover the whole thing, though some parts are extremely difficult to get to at first. Here are some bugs I did find prior to this review, and everyone should be aware of (though it's different for everyone due to hardware): When I started the game, I had let it run idle in the main menu for a couple minutes because I had to check something, but when I returned to the game, I found that it had crashed due to a graphics issue. I'm assuming the crashing only happens when you don't do anything after a while, but I'm not entirely sure because it only happened once so far (I only opened the game twice prior to this review). Another thing you should be aware of is that the "Game Over" screen might "freeze" your game. I had a total of 10 kills and my game froze on the 10th death. The only "fix" I found with this so far is by going into task manager to force close it, but I pressed my laptop's power button (not holding it, just a click) to put it in sleep mode, before pressing it again go get back on my home screen, and then force closing the game in task manager (or on Steam in your collections page). I've also noticed that the game over song overlaps with the stage's music sometimes, but it does fix itself eventually. Last thing I've noticed is the lack of keyboard support. It does kind of work, but it's not great. It does randomly stop working during the intro dialogue, and I'm sure it's probably the same with actually playing the game. However, I had to use an Xbox controller, and it does work perfectly fine on said controller. I know the game just released so I do have faith in seeing bug fixes in the future, and I'm not discouraging anyone from playing. This is just based on my personal experience and hopefully this will somehow help other people, as well as the developer. Despite these issues, I still recommend this game to anyone who wants to play it. TLDR; Pog game, keep it up.
Keyboard bindings doesnt seem to work? I arrange all the bindings however i want but they are doing different thing in game, and next screen some of the buttons doesnt work at all. Cant really play lol
After few updates, the game is now working well and I could recommend to Metrovania fans. The game features retro 8-bit art and music, with smooth and responding control to overcome the obstacles. It does have difficulty spikes in early game and instant-kill traps, but they won't stop you once getting used to the control, just have some patience and you can enjoy exploring the world.
