anime aesthetic and pixel rpg is the best combo ive ever seen. the game's world is unique and quite distinctive. music is on another level. i enjoyed playing this game and it was unforgettable experience. alas, i got some bugs during the gameplay and that's why i give 9/10. regardless, i recommend Lamia's Play and i would replay it someday.
Pretty short and nothing special, but for the asking price it delivers. I like it when RPGM games do something interesting, even if that something is only a change in color and lighting.
Lamia’s Plan, developed by Succubella Games and published by Angels and Demons, is a compact, narrative-driven RPG that blends puzzle-solving and light mystery elements into a short but focused adventure. Set in the quiet village of Pokato, the story begins with a familiar but effective setup: a young girl, the daughter of the village chief, has gone missing, reportedly taken by a Lamia—a seductive, serpentine creature drawn from myth. The player takes on the role of Zel, a traveling demon hunter hired to track down the monster, uncover the truth, and bring the girl back. While the plot may seem straightforward at first, the game uses its simplicity as a backdrop for interactive exploration, light detective work, and multiple narrative outcomes. What distinguishes Lamia’s Plan from similar indie RPGs is its integration of non-linear elements. While combat is present, brute force isn’t the only—or even the best—path forward. Instead, players are encouraged to pay attention to their surroundings, search for clues, talk to villagers, and piece together information that can help them determine how to approach the final confrontation. Choices matter here, and the story branches depending on how you interact with the world and what conclusions you draw. This design helps inject replayability into a relatively short game and gives players a sense of agency that goes beyond typical RPG battles or fetch quests. The visual style is heavily inspired by anime, featuring cute character sprites and bright, colorful environments. It’s clear that the developers were aiming for an approachable aesthetic rather than a gritty or realistic one, and it works well for the kind of light fantasy setting they’ve created. Music and sound design are functional, though not particularly memorable, and the dialogue—while brief—is mostly clear, though it sometimes struggles with awkward phrasing likely due to localization limitations. The game’s tone, though whimsical in appearance, occasionally dips into darker or more suggestive territory, which creates an unusual but not necessarily unwelcome contrast. Mechanically, the game is simple and accessible. It runs smoothly on even low-spec PCs and offers straightforward controls. Puzzle sequences are short and generally not very difficult, but they serve to break up the pacing and offer some light mental engagement. The combat system, where it appears, is basic turn-based fare—functional but clearly not the central focus. Inventory management, equipment, and character stats are kept minimal, emphasizing the game’s intent as more of an interactive narrative than a full-fledged RPG with deep systems. Players expecting tactical depth or extensive character progression may be left wanting more. One element that may divide players is the presence of optional adult content, offered through a separate NSFW DLC. This expansion adds explicit scenes and nudity to the base game, shifting the tone more toward erotic fantasy. For some players, this may enhance the experience by aligning with the mythological seduction themes of the Lamia character. For others, it may feel out of place, or simply unnecessary. Fortunately, the DLC is entirely optional and does not impact the completion of the game’s main story, allowing players to opt in or out depending on their preferences. In terms of value, Lamia’s Plan is reasonably priced, typically costing just under a dollar, which makes it easy to recommend for players looking for a short, self-contained game that offers more than just combat. The branching endings and clues-based progression give it a layer of depth that makes the experience more engaging than one might expect from such a small package. However, it’s important to approach it with the right expectations—this is not a long or complex RPG, nor is it trying to be. It’s a short-form experience that focuses on player choice, a small mystery, and a dash of fantasy charm. Overall, Lamia’s Plan offers a pleasant surprise for those who enjoy light RPGs with interactive narratives and multiple outcomes. It’s not a technically ambitious game, but within its scope, it delivers a solid experience with just enough charm and variety to justify its time and price. While it won’t satisfy those looking for deep systems or rich world-building, it’s a fine pick for players interested in a quick fantasy story where choices matter and the truth isn’t always what it seems. Rating: 6/10
Not a bad game. I sat at the game with interest.
