The idea for this game is not bad. It does have a good story, and the art style is very unique. However, what ruined the game was the horrendous voice acting - not only was it very nerve wracking on the ears, it was over exaggerated and made the experience not enjoyable at all. Just narrating in a normal tone / voice would have been more preferable. Therefore, I am "disliking" the game for that alone - the voice narration truly killed the game, in a very negative way.
LA Monsters is not a game, it's an e-book/audio book ("Visual novel" is another term that writers use when trying to disguise an e-book as a game) that's been launched on Steam as a game, despite not being one. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which presents the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. The e-book is presented badly with some weird schizophrenic art that looks like they took some scenes from other games or random Blender scenes, put and ugly filter over it, then put stick figures on with MS-Paint. I'm not sure what the point of that is. It's a badly written story about two brothers who traverse the "wasteland" of Los Angeles. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. While this is free, it's bad, and badly written. A basic requirement for me to recommend games to people is that they have to be games... and this e-book isn't a game at all. My gaming rig is not a Kindle. If you're on Steam but not looking for games, but are looking for free, high quality, well written e-books and audio books, Project Gutenberg has literally thousands, all much better than this.

Trippy as this game is, it just doesn’t keep my attention. It also performs really badly for what it is, and the overall tone alongside the improvisation by the different narrators seems like it would work better in a comedy game, whereas this game would be much better suited to a more sombre tone. Even the music, which is by far my favourite part of the game, isn’t extensive enough, with the same few tracks looping for all 39 frames.
A nice piece of weird fiction with some incredible visuals. It comes together to create an interesting piece of interactive story telling, full of atmosphere.
a bit laggy for me and mouse disappeared but pixels r nice
