About
Disaster strikes!
Humiliated by hecklers, Kun Kun turns to the legendary Lao Da to learn the true art of basketball.
But Lao Da’s trial is cruel: you must find the basketball that explodes.
KUNKUN Basketball is a Roguelite + Devil Roulette–style game, inspired by chaotic “Wanning Edition” mechanics — faster, crazier, and far more explosive.
Use a variety of off-court support skills to turn the tide of battle, including powerful abilities that swap items with Lao Da or reverse all live and blank balls in play.
Build different synergies and playstyles to steadily improve Kun Kun’s basketball skills.
Money isn’t just a number — invest it into two and a half years of relentless practice, pushing Kun Kun’s technique further and further… until he finally surpasses Lao Da.
Enter the basketball court and face Lao Da in a brutal duel
Either blow Lao Da away — or let Kun Kun explode.
Choose wisely
Throw exploding basketballs at Lao Da.
Throw non-exploding ones at yourself.
A lighter tone than Devil Roulette
No oppressive horror atmosphere — whether you win or lose, you’ll probably laugh.
Escalating challenge
As rounds progress, Lao Da gradually stops holding back and reveals his true power.

KUNKUN Basketball, developed and published by seel, is an offbeat and deliberately chaotic indie title that uses the idea of basketball as a loose thematic wrapper for a game built almost entirely around risk, chance, and short-form replayability. It doesn’t attempt to simulate the sport in any traditional sense; instead, it leans into absurd humor and unpredictable mechanics, creating an experience that feels closer to a gamble-driven roguelite than a sports game. The result is something unusual—simple on the surface, but capable of generating surprisingly tense and entertaining moments. The premise sets the tone immediately, presenting a surreal narrative where the protagonist Kun Kun undergoes a strange form of “training” that turns basketball into a life-or-death game of probability. Rather than dribbling or shooting in a conventional sense, players are faced with choices involving different types of basketballs, some of which are safe while others are explosive. Each turn becomes a decision that blends intuition and luck, as players try to outmaneuver their opponent without triggering disastrous outcomes. This core mechanic is the foundation of the entire experience, and everything else is built around it. Gameplay revolves around a turn-based structure where players select actions that influence the outcome of each round. The unpredictability of the ball system creates a constant sense of tension, as even a seemingly safe move can lead to unexpected consequences. To complement this, the game introduces roguelite elements that allow players to acquire abilities and modifiers over the course of a run. These upgrades can alter probabilities, introduce new effects, or provide ways to mitigate risk, giving players some degree of control over an otherwise chaotic system. While these mechanics add variety, they remain relatively straightforward, ensuring that the game retains its quick and accessible nature. The pacing is one of the game’s most defining strengths. Matches are brief and fast-moving, with little downtime between decisions. This makes the game highly suited to short play sessions, where players can complete multiple runs in a single sitting without feeling overwhelmed. The immediacy of each round keeps the experience engaging, as every choice has a direct and often dramatic impact on the outcome. At the same time, the reliance on a single central mechanic means that the experience can begin to feel repetitive over longer sessions, as there is limited evolution in how the gameplay unfolds. Visually, KUNKUN Basketball embraces a colorful and exaggerated style that complements its absurd premise. The character designs and animations lean into humor, creating a lighthearted atmosphere that contrasts with the underlying tension of the gameplay. The presentation is simple but effective, prioritizing clarity so that players can easily follow the action. Audio design reinforces this tone, with sound effects and cues that emphasize both the comedic and unpredictable nature of each encounter. In terms of progression, the game offers a modest amount of content. The roguelite structure encourages replay through incremental improvements and different ability combinations, but the overall scope remains limited. There is enough variety to sustain interest for a while, particularly for players who enjoy experimenting with different strategies, but it does not provide the depth or long-term engagement found in more complex roguelite titles. This makes it best suited for casual play rather than extended sessions. Ultimately, KUNKUN Basketball succeeds by fully committing to its unconventional concept. It doesn’t try to balance realism or depth with its mechanics; instead, it focuses on delivering a fast, unpredictable, and often humorous experience. For players willing to embrace its randomness and enjoy short bursts of gameplay, it offers a unique and entertaining diversion. For those seeking a more structured or skill-based system, however, its reliance on chance and limited complexity may feel restrictive. Rating: 7/10
