Corrupt governments starting fake pandemics, secret societies controlling the world from the shadows and AI trying to take over the world. You would think I'm talking about planet Earth, but no it's Kung Fu Jesus! Let's see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Being a schizophrenic, bad-ass, kung fu warrior in a crazy world of crime organizations, alternate dimensions, lizard people and ex-wives ain't simple, especially if you have to deal with insane visual and auditory hallucinations. This is an RPG-ish 2.5D retro street brawler inspired by 70s, 80s and 90s pop culture. The game is not for everyone and probably not the ideal casual game to relax a little after school or work. Nevertheless, the colorful environment and strange music samples combined with some good old martial arts can be quite interesting. Only for fans of psychedelic cult weirdness.
I haven't finished the game yet but this is my impression so far. Gameplay: The gameplay consists mostly of a "2.5D" world I guess where you move side to side and you can move a little bit up and down the environment as well with mostly simple fighting mechanics in my limited experience of fighting games. There are fun combos that you can learn from doing different things and there are abilities that you can discover as you progress, all the while gradually leveling up your total health and energy levels. There are also a good amount of minigames which are surprisingly well made and fleshed out. To me they almost don't really feel like "minigames" in a sense because of how well made the ones I have come across have been. However, one downside is that once you are inside a minigame I don't believe there is any way of getting out of it until you have beaten it. Soundtrack: The soundtrack of this game is stunning! It helps create the very unique atmosphere and so far the soundtrack is one of my very favorites of any game's and honestly even some of the best music I've heard in general in my opinion. Visuals: The visuals of this game are some of the most psychedelic, sometimes creepy, and amazing I've seen before in a game. Overall the style and design of this game was wonderfully executed to make the game feel like some kind of crazy psychedelic trip mixed with the deteriorating mental state of Kung Fu Jesus. Story: I can't make many comments about the story as I haven't completed it yet. But I think the fusion between reality and fantasy through mental deterioration and drugs is an interesting idea. The story (as I understand it so far) is made up of many different wild conspiracy theories and fictional things plus reality and it's all tied together into a huge elaborate story that you learn more about as you progress. Additionally, the dialog is well written and can be pretty clever and humorous sometimes. ______________________________________________________________ One thing I should note is that this game seems to have a very large amount of quality content and story, especially for an indie game and the price. I've played this game for a while now and I seem to have only scratched the surface.^_^ Something I should mention though is that this game is very difficult for me personally. It might be better if there was a difficulty setting you could change, but currently I don't think there is. Another thing I think I should mention is that there is something that could be confusing and intimidating with some boss fights. With everyone you fight where the intention is not to be a fight to the death, starting with Master S, the game will show them having large HP Bars. However, you only need to deal a small percentage of their HP (usually only around a hundred to few hundred damage later). Currently it seems to be unclear to me exactly how much damage you need to deal to end each fight like that. These "non-fight-to-the-death" fights will show the enemies having large HP bars of thousands of HP but I'm assuming that's simply their total HP as a character. When you enter a fight where the intention is to kill the enemy, their HP bar is much more reasonable with it showing something like ~500 HP later and once you deplete it then the fight ends. Overall this game has been a great experience so far and I'd recommend it to anyone interested!
It's painful to play this game long enough to be allowed to review it. It's obvious that someone put a lot of time into this game, and the whacked out story had me interested in progressing, but... the gameplay is so bad I can't force myself to continue. Unfortunately, the game sat in my library for almost a month before I played it, so I was outside the time window for a refund. Please learn from my loss. A short list of features: -No indication of how to leave the first room. Maybe you'll stumble into it. Maybe you won't. -Stiff controls. -Must repeat pointless hallways and dialogues over and over if you lose a fight. -Nonsensical difficulty ramping. -There might be more features, but I'm not sticking around to find out.

No es ningún spoiler.

HISTORIA
No te arrepentirás. Mi valoración final: 8/10
Disorienting visuals, inability to control the audio, no subtitles to make understanding the ambient dialogue, poor controls in a 2.5 brawler gameplay, and the shallow philosophy of an excited freshman's first day sociology course. I bought this game thinking it'd be a fun short romp, this wasn't even worth the $15.
