Kristallijn

Kristallijn is an interesting experience that takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes to complete. This is one of those games, maybe sort of like "Emporium," whose meaning can be hard to decipher and subject to different interpretations. It takes place at a club--the place looks close to being deserted--in what would appear to be the outskirts of a southwestern town or city. Anyway, the lights are on and the music is playing but no one is home except for you and a solitary, mute female dancer. You follow her--or is she following you?--through winding corridors and chambers. It's a sinister, menacing atmosphere and the music is well suited to the surroundings throughout. There are scenes when you can get close enough to make eye contact, however fleeting, with the dancer and it's very weird. It would seem she's a lonely, troubled person but at the same time it's as though she feels completely "at home" inside the club setting. It's just a weird, sublime experience and the ending is jarring. The game is quite short for the price but this is also a highly unusual game that takes you to an interesting place. It depends on what you look for in games. If you like things that are surreal and dark and weird then I'd say definitely pick this up.

Honestly, a shocker from start to finish. The way this game manipulates lights and short looped movements is incredible. I adore the simplicity and how anxiety inducing this game gets, but the ending...hits too close to home. You get in such a loop of pausing and waiting for things to move and see where you need to go, then the ending breaks you out of that cycle and its just. 100/10. Cmon, you have 3 dollars to spare, just play it and experience the wonderful work that is kristallijn :)
