This was a mostly fun and interesting game, with weird characters, fun sprite work and great music. It's a very self aware game playing on the tropes of games that came before it. Unfortunately in the end it kind of felt like a bit of a missed shot though, there was a lot of potential there to do something more engaging. The story set up is much more interesting than the actual story, it veers off suddenly. It veers off quite frequently actually, the plot bounces around from thing to thing, person to person and it feels like nothing ever gets fully fleshed out and developed. I think how erratic it is might be the point, an intentional stylistic choice, but it also makes it feel like somebody is making up the game as they go without it being all mapped out beforehand (then wrapping things up suddenly as they realise they need to finish the thing) Overall it's funny, has some great interesting visuals and music. It's stylish and has enough weird gameplay variations to throw at you that you don't feel like you're just playing pokemon. I can't help shake the feeling this could have been a lot better than it was though, maybe that's not a fair criticism since what it was was still good. This isn't a game I'd go raving to all my friends and preaching about but I'd recommend it to those who like similar games or people who want a game that can surprise them.

Knuckle Sandwich has outstanding visuals and a phenomenal soundtrack. Many of the minigames you'll encounter are also very fun to play and liven up the battle gameplay. The game has a very strong first chapter and the final chapter is really fun too, but there are stretches between those two that feel like you're mostly dragging yourself along. I was following the game shortly before the Kickstarter and only just got around to beating the full thing. As many other reviews point out, the story does *not* pick up the way you'd expect after the demo/prologue & first chapter, not necessarily in a good way? Maybe? But I still found it very fun how everything comes together in the end, and how many worldbuilding elements start to make a lot more sense after a certain point (things you see throughout the entire game without giving them much thought get recontextualized) Many negative reviews point out valid issues with the game, but this is still a title I'd recommend playing because you can feel how much love & artistic passion Andy Brophy put in the game <3
A wacky and fun turn based RPG (with minigames!!!!! wow!!) comparable to games like Earthbound, Deltarune, Undertale, etc. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if you enjoyed any of those, especially if its on sale. I really loved the characters, soundtrack, gameplay and the story (despite its flaws) and overall found it quite memorable. Its awesome and really a hidden gem, I'm suprised more people dont talk about it.
This game has no chill. Zero. It starts off funny, like "wholesome slice of life job sim" funny, then casually pivots into cannibalism because sure, why not, then swerves into a full blown wacky ghost arc because apparently ghosts also need character development, then somehow makes you best friends with enemies you were just trying to beat the snot out of five minutes earlier. And just when you're comfortable with your new pals, the game goes "actually no, this one's going to be a massive pain in your ass," and throws you into fights where the enemy just refuses to play by the rules. They won't fight you straight up, they fight on their own terms, and you end up getting yanked in like four different directions at once just trying to land a hit. It is chaos. Structured, well written, genuinely hilarious chaos. The combat system is deceptively deep, the boss fights are unhinged in the best way, and every single side character has more personality packed into three lines of dialogue than most AAA games manage in forty hours. Would I recommend this game. Absolutely. Will I be able to explain the plot to anyone afterward. Absolutely not. I tried explaining one boss fight to my roommate and she just slowly backed out of the room.
This is such a diamond in the rough game. I had it on my radar since i saw Vinny Vinsauce play demo of it. Just bought it recently on sale and i love the vibe, Story? Kinda lacking in places. Minigames? Tedious after some time. I wish to support Andy Brophy on future endavors and would love to see some refined continuation of our and bus driver adventures.
