It's got heart. I was wondering what to write this review while playing because it's a small developer and every positive review helps small games like this one. The game has some rough edges, it could use a couple more animations and some transitions and technical aspects aren't perfect. But it does have heart, and passion and some truly personal connection to the developer. And damn it, despite the fact that I was feeling kinda distant and lukewarm on the little vignettes the ending still got me.
Krótka, bardzo emocjonalna historia o przemijaniu, samotności i wychowywaniu dziecka w pojedynkę.
A short, touching game about human relationships. The gameplay is straightforward, but the focus is more on the story and atmosphere.
As a father, I relate to this game SO HARD. Did not expect this to hit me in the feel, but it did. Well done on this!
Such a beautiful short game. Kinsfolk is a narrative-driven game, about an hour long with puzzle aspects alongside an absolutely incredible story and amazing voice acting (some of the best voice acting imo). As you go through the game, you follow the main character, a father, learning about his past and how to overcome it, and grief. The scenery and art in the game are absolutely beautiful. I played with ultra setting on my steam deck and would highly recommend ultra for your graphics setting as the scenery adds sooo much to the story + is genuinely gorgeous. If you have a spare hour or two I would highlllllly recommend the game if you enjoy happiness and crying at the end an such good writing and storytelling. <333 I loved this game so much and would recommend it to anyone and everyone big fan of the chicken story, reminded me of minecraft and of the added detail of me carrying the deer :3
This is a very soothing and heart warming game. Everything comes really nice together with the music, the voice acting. It might be a short journey but really brings out different feelings along the way, and I find myself standing at the end just a little longer before saying goodbye.
This is a short, heartfelt story game about a father, his relationships, and the lessons he learns throughout his life. It touches on fond memories, grief, parenthood, and finding a way forward. Most of the time you'll be walking through beautiful scenes, with some (really good) voice acting interspersed, that give you more insight into the events happening and the thoughts of the protagonist. It's clear that this was made with a lot of love, and if you enjoy reflective, emotional stories, you'll like this one.
Short sweet and a little poetic. For the hour it takes to play it kept me thinking about what everything was meant to represent and thinking of myself and relationship with my own parents and my own children. If you want replayability you wont really get that but if you want a well voiced story with a beautiful music track then it delivers.
It is a story about fatherhood, about tears and happiness and everything in between. I recommend this small game to everyone enjoying interactive narrative experiences.
A short and sweet emotional tale told through cozy environment and beautiful voice acting. One can nitpick about a thing or two, but overall it's an enjoyable experience worth the purchase. You can see the game comes from a place of love.
