Kingshunt

"Kingshunt" is a surprisingly okay looking MTX/cash shop infested third person PvP brawler that's abandoned by both the developers and the players. Why did this fail? Autopsy time! The majority of PvP only games fail. Launching a PvP game in Early Access will absolutely kill the game. You only get one shot... if players show up, see your incomplete game is incomplete, and leave because it's in such a bad state... they don't come back. The developers thought that PvP was an acceptable substitute for creating a game with content, narrative, progressive level design and so on. This is an incredible gamble, and the developers lost. PvP is not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. With no players, and no single player content to entice gamers to stick around, this died before it was even completed due to the highly questionable decisions from the developer. Couldn't finish the game, but had plenty of time to create a cash shop. Huh. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. This isn't really free as the game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this. It's important to note that, despite this being such a low quality product, there's a number of positive reviews that all appeared immediately after the game launched, from suspiciously inactive Steam accounts that have reviewed almost no other games apart from this. On a purely unrelated note, recent US FTC rulings mean that review manipulation and fake reviews are now federal crimes. Interesting, isn't it? Regardless... take the review score of this game with a grain of salt. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
