A game with great potential but too many game breaking moments. 1 - Played it on both early release and after updates and it still has a tendency to crash and causes you to restart 2 - game play doesn't respond properly - what i mean by this is every time i tell my melee units to attack they will literally go to the enemy stand there for a good moment while getting slaughtered before starting to attack. 3 - Towers and walls are bugged - meaning every time I tell my units to attack the wall they would sometimes climb up it or not react to it at all making it impossible to direct attacks without a good chance of them stopping dead cause they see it as an unaccessable area. 4 - accuracy is either dead on or completely missing - had three catapults attacking a gate house but miss every time even though the rocks are shown hitting it, towers cannot be targeted, archers are dead on accurate regardless of location 5 - lastly frame rates would be flawless one moment then laggy the next. This game has great potential however there bugs and glitches are making this great game terrible. hopefully they'll update this and fix many of the bugs in the game if so then i'll gladly change my rating but until then dont play unless you want to rage quit.

the main differences between this game and the definitive version that I see is that the menu is slightly different, the "upgrade" and or purchasing basic gameplay components is even somehow worse because you need specific items that it randomly will give you for winning a custom game but at least it gives a significant portion more than the definitive version. the gameplay differences with the humans that I noticed was that making livestock gave less livestock and lower income generation and also if you make too many of one animal the animal stops producing resources. however the cap for your resource storage is significantly higher than the definitive edition the gameplay vs 1 ai was very smooth and it may be because of things like the archers arrows moving slower and that the archers don't fire as frequently turning on the game on the definitive version takes about 45 seconds less time than this version. overall I would probably say that this version is slightly better than the definitive version however it is no longer being sold and it still has a lot of problems with it
This game sucks! do not waste your money on this title.
Picked this game up recently whilst looking through the sales stuff, so this is first impressions. Kinda lured me into false sense of security as has an intro where your raising various unit types, assigning tasks, rebuilding defences to your Castle / city following an Orcish attack. After awhile of this you almost prey to be attacked. Graphic wise it looks to be sprites on a detailed map which you can pan around fully and zoom into a degree. So if your after state of the art may not be your thing, but if your more into game play the design art style fits the subject well. It can be hard to find units but as this is a first time playing there could be an option i'm missing. The intro tutorial continues as you build Blacksmiths, Barracks etc,,,you can research further items to build and improve your forces. Then the attack comes which can catch you off guard at first as its a fairly hectic affair kinda reminiscent of tower defence / Toy soldiers. It does however get across a fantasy large scale battle quite well. I was also impressed by the number of options and actions you can set for your defence. From then on in it can get pretty hectic. Over all Im quite impressed with the effort put into the game art, sound and gameplay you get for the price and will look a the devs other titles, so therefore can recommend it.
The devs are one of the worst I have ever met, from lost progress and even paid DLCs on KW1 up to the fact that their games are buggy and unfinished including game breaking "features" like endless hordes of useless zombies which will tear you apart more than any enemy ever can. Do not forget the OP cards which can be abused to give you unfair advantage in case you should experience any pvp, which you likely never will, since people do not play this piece of s****. I will never buy any game from these incompetent devs again. I wish I could get a refund for all my purchases from these scammers.
I don't remember why I bought this game

Kingdom Wars 2: Battles was a relatively fresh sequel to the old Kingdom Wars RTS from decades ago. There's a strong defensive element as well as upgrade trees and all the other kinds of things that gamers would expect out of an RTS. It's a recipe for success but the game was plagued with technical issues that went unresolved by the developer. A list of workarounds and technical hoops were provided in lieu of the developer actually testing, fixing, and maintaining their product, but ultimately it seems the developer admitted their inability to make their game work properly and pulled it from Steam. It's a shame because there was a lot of potential here, but developers must be aware that if they want to sell a successful game, it must be maintained through the lifecycle, properly tested before launch, and fixed and maintained after launch.
